URL sharing via QR code and an update to Chromium 87 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2110.3

@Ornorm Aaaarrghh… I missed the tiling thing…
-
@hlehyaric You couldn't know it because I didn't specify it (it was visible in the gifs only). I did edit my original post accordingly.

@Ornorm I should have known. I saw the gifs.

Did you like the URL it went to?
Can't say I was surprised...

It would be the first modern browser to get that..
Ja. Vivaldi is "a browser for our friends", innit, & the friends want TST. Case closed, Your Honour. The Defence rests.
@Hadden89 said in URL sharing via QR code and an update to Chromium 87 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2110.3:
(Even ol' firefox pre-australis relied on extensions to have that).
Well not only pre-Australis, coz even right now in my Quantum Foxes [vanilla, Dev.Ed & Nightly] i run Piro's https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/tree-style-tab/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=search. It is superb... but its one glaring omission is lack of hoverable thumbnails as an option like V.
Were the V Devs to crack this puzzle & provide us with the world's first chromium thumbnailing nesting TST native functionality, well then IMO it'd be simply game over... all other browsers instantly rendered pointless.
-
@Steffie Yeah, I also have it but tree tabs in Firefox Quantum via sidebar API is still way inferior on what it was on Firefox XUL - when was really connected with the UI. That's why a native feature, even in phases, will make
all other browsers [...] pointless.
But I can't forgive FF for pushing&enforcing an unwanted chrome UI that their majority of users hated.

even the dead bird i started seeing sometimes for a fraction of a second after closing a tab is gone now
I have never had those, but ironically last night when i used the internal browser restart option it momentarily Norwegian Blued me. I've tried it again now just before this post & there was no repeat.

And I'll never forget that FF pushed and then enforced a chrome-UI that their majority of users hated.
Reason why I searched for another browser and discovered Vivaldi.
After all, I should thank Mozilla because I don't regret the switch to Vivaldi. -
@Ornorm Heehee indeed. IMO Australis was simply horrific; a diabolically poor management decision & a loathed UI. Afaik two of the "popular?" FF forks, Waterfox and Basilisk, still use this awful UI, whereas another, Pale Moon stayed with the older/better UI, but now has quite patchy AO support. OMZ, that day when i first discovered V... such joy!
Oh & yeah... QR QR QR ... so now i am not OT.
Uh oh, i accidentally said it three times...

This applies to many of us!
I forgot… QR QR QR

Those ugly-curved tabs? Yeah.
I love Vivaldi's perfectly dimensioned square tabs

I disabled QR. I don't have QR app

Yes sure, but more than that, eg, even its Settings sections were badly dumbed-down. Ugh it was a bad decision.
QR QR QR.

@Steffie Yeah i only had this with the previous snapshot and, as i said, it was only sometimes and for a fraction of a second after closing a tab.
When asked for someone to confirm the issue on the past thread some user told me that he had always have dead birds on all versions of vivaldi and not only that specific snapshot, if true then the behavior may vary depending on hardware and/or OS.
Anyway I'm happy to announce that on my specific case it's not happening anymore and as an added bonus some actions related to tab handling now feels more responsive.

It's a nice feature, but another button in the address field. It would be good to have an overflow menu for the page actions just like in Firefox.
