URL sharing via QR code and an update to Chromium 87 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2110.3

@Stardust I actually don't use stacks too much, usually I max stack 10 tabs. But for testing the feature I open most internal pages (Imagine do that with with dozen of video pages) in a single stack.
About lazy load as default... I think is fine otherwise less powerful PCs would have trouble to start the Vivaldi UI/chromium renderer. Or just put lazy load with the explanation in welcome page. Is a good compromise.
Lazy load off and tendency to show all history are the most common cause of UI hangs.
With a rationale use of stacks/tabs - or a great patience - lazy load could be avoided at all.
(A 50~100+ tab user should know that have to wait and make a in the meanwhile). -

accent colour often doesn't follow the active page like I've set it... it seems to be one step behind
I remember a 3.5 internal Daily had this. I will check.Happens with 3.5.2110.3 only if i open in background.
You're right - I've just done some testing and a page opened from the speed-dial will always have the correct accent colour, but the exact same speed-dial link opened in background will keep the colour of the previously opened tab.
If you click a link on that faulty tab then it starts working.
Oh - I see you've reported already, thanks.

Same here, since Opera 12

Yes, but what about a more Powerful PCs? Users will notice that something wrong with tabs loading
-
@Stardust That's why I proposed to put in welcome page. A lot of people only have 4 or 8gb, maybe even a discrete or an older CPU/GPU but still abuse tabs. Maybe they come from Chrome/Firefox which already have a default "aggressive" lazy load~hibernation system and will think the slowiness is due vivaldi UI. The issue, here, is this feature is pretty much became a standard. Who wants to avoid that, like us, will change the settings, or ask here.
For example, my main snap don't use lazy load (normal usage) while my test snap (stress tests) really need the feature only due the huge list of stack you saw above.

Come the Revolution, they'll be the first against the wall.
Spoiler
Just why is it that revolutionaries intensively dislike Pink Floyd like this? ️

@Hadden89 I guess I was wrong about this feature, it makes sense when you use Last Session startup, right?

We have plans for tabs that I think many here will like
Yay, we're getting Tree Style Tabs, excellent!

@Stardust Exactly.

Thanks for the report

even though it does read the one in the blog image
Did you like the URL it went to?
-
@Steffie It would be the first modern browser to get that. (Even ol' firefox pre-australis relied on extensions to have that).

@Tealing You mean reopend by shortcut Ctrl+Shift+T?
By any means, with mouse gesture, with the trashcan icon, etc., but now I noticed that this does not happen every time, sometimes the address is shown but most of the time it's not (at least for me). It's really really random, opening a certain website/address doesn't seem to affect it. Sorry for not noticing this earlier, I don't use the snapshot that much and what I did test when I noticed this, every time the address was not shown. Now testing more, I see it happen randomly. Just try opening different websites into new tabs from random google search and closing+reopening them in different ways.
EDIT: Sometimes a website opened in new tab behaves like this: close, reopen (shows address), close, reopen (no address).
-
@Tealing @Gwen-Dragon It also happens to me rather randomly (using
cmd+Z
or reopening from WP).MacBook Pro Early 2015 | macOS 10.12.6 Sierra | Vivaldi 3.5.2110.3
Edit: It happens on internal pages too (
vivaldi://settings
,vivaldi://bookmarks/

@stardust: You can have the design you indicated with this:
#vivaldi-tooltip .tab-solo { display: none; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip { top: 30px !important; transition: none !important; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item { height: auto; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item .thumbnail-image { display: none; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item .thumbnail-caption { position: relative; min-height: 18px; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item .thumbnail-caption .thumbnail-text .info { display: none; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item .thumbnail-caption .thumbnail-text { margin-top: 1px; margin-left: 25px; white-space: nowrap; -webkit-mask-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(180deg, transparent 0, #fff 12px); overflow: hidden; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item:not(:hover) .thumbnail-caption .thumbnail-text { margin-right: -24px; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item .thumbnail-caption .thumbnail-buttons .favicon { position: absolute; left: 0px; } #vivaldi-tooltip .tooltip .tab-group .tooltip-item:hover .thumbnail-caption .thumbnail-buttons .favicon { display: inline; }
Output:
-
@Tealing Same for me on Windows 10

For Vivaldi Android we would also like to have a URL release via QR code: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/31068/include-qr-code-scanner-in-mobile-version?_=1605882155601

I don't know if this has been reported/noticed by someone else. I see that opening a link in a new tab from a tab stack doesn't work (nor if
Open Tabs in Current Tab Stack
is enabled or disabled.
Edit : it concerns tiled tabs only. And the issue happens when using the right-click context menu but also when opening a link with a keyboard shortcut like Shift-Click).
Edit 2 : bug reported : VB-74417Outside stack (hidden gif for sensitive eyes):

Great update, feels faster and more responsive for me than the previous snapshot, specially when switching and closing tabs even the dead bird i started seeing sometimes for a fraction of a second after closing a tab is gone now.
Good work.
-
@Ornorm I can confirm this. Its an older bug I thought that was fixed, but apparently the context menu is still broken. If you file a new bug for that I will confirm it.
-
@LonM Thanks for confirming, I'll report the bug in a minute.
