More fixes and another minor Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2088.7

@potmeklecbohdan: Hey there, I was the one implementing that "fix". We were holding up on loading more of the history until you had loaded the history manager or panel. This means as soon as you had navigated into the manager or panel, you'd have every entry in there anyway. After the fix, quick commands also load all of your history entries, instead of having to navigate to the manager or panel first.
About the open; would you mind checking exactly how large your history is? You'll find the number by History Manager -> Brush in the top-right corner, selecting story browsing and then all time. Please provide the number back to me.
-
@Alacho Thanks for that. I use qc almost exclusively to search and navigate and having to open history beforehand was tedious, because I always forgot to do it before issuing the search.
-
@Alacho Well, that’s why I always opened a new window for that But the current behaviour is what most users expect, so that’s okay (I’ll open a feature request for the old or similar behaviour hopefully).
I have 85952 entries… Time to disable history in QC til it’s session-only again.
-
@potmeklecbohdan: Wow, how did you actually manage to navigate through any of it without lagging? I was lagging with 10000 entries...
-
@luetage: Glad to hear that, and same here. Hope you feel that the speed is increased as well. The testing I did saw changes up to 200x faster.
-
@Alacho As I said, I always opened a new window for the history page. There I’ve recently (after realising I can do this) switched to one day; when searching I first entered the query & then switched to all time.
I usually want only the history from that session. The rest is a powerful source of information, but hardly ever needed.
-
@Alacho @Ruarí Searching via the History searchbox (vivaldi://history) breaks pretty often now, for example when typing >2 words , same in Stable with the newest update (2066.88). F2 is pretty fast here (no lag) with over 32.000 entries.

@potmeklecbohdan
I'm more toward an "hide post" for off-topics in threads to handle them. (even this post would be hidden, of course :D).
The downvote causes a form self-censorship not to lose reputation - no jokes, no fun - and even less help.
(In some cases people lost rep. points as a suggested solution/workaround didn't solve an issue which is unfair). -
@Hadden89 You know quite a lot of people use downvote much less than upvote…
Stop this off-topic pls, I just wanted to remind the tsunami of feature request reports of how annoying this is.

They seem not to care... maybe they're actually just a spambot?

Yes, it's so annoying. Workaround: block that user/spambot (in your forum's settings) and you won't see that flood of posts anymore.
-
@hlehyaric Are you using the block feature actively? I mean, what’s the forum without drama?
-

Ooh, i like riddles. Um, let's see... maybe...
Comedy? -
@luetage No, not at all. I only block two users and one of them deleted his account some time ago… It's just that in that case, it's not drama, but rant/whining (according to me), not once but regularly and I was fed up with that. So I gave the block feature a chance .
BTW, as you can see, blocking someone doesn't keep me away from the drama . -

There might be more to the issues with the tabs.I'm getting some odd behaviour when closing tabs. I have my 'Close Tab Activation' set to 'Activate Right in Tab Order'. Most of the time it seems to be working properly. But there have been a few times where the next active tab is a random tab that keeps getting selected.
-
@ugly Yes,
I have also seen this problem, I think if you close a tab, it will show you the last tab viewed by default. -
In some cases the Focus on the Start Page disappears, e.g. when you open in the 1 tab any selected dial and close it by ctrl+w, you will see that the focus is gone.
-
@Alacho Umm, sorry if I’ve caused you several hours of headache; I’ve just realised that that
too long
could be interpreted as several seconds or minutes. Nope, that hasn’t happened. It just used to be opening instantly, while now it sometimes takes a more noticeable amount of time (200 ms?). It’s just an interruption of my workflow (I often use muscle-memorised fast key sequences such as
Ctl-Sft-p
,v
,f
,Enter
), but it doesn’t mean the of of the world.I apologise once again for this mistake.
-
@hlehyaric Thanks. That helps a lot.
