Google downloads "aborted" in web panel
-
I have gmail in a web panel, which is mostly great. But when I need to download an attachment, the panel says "aborted" at the top. If I open it in a regular browser tab, I can download the attachment. Same thing with Google Drive, it will only let me download in a regular tab. But I can download from other websites in a panel.
I've tried this solution and it didn't seem to help.
Thanks!

Always give your Vivaldi and OS version when reporting issues. I set my Gmail account as a web panel, and sent myself an email with an attachment.
When I clicked on the attachment link, the download dialog appeared and the file was successfully downloaded when I chose to save it. The file was 5Kbyte 7-Zip archive.

@Pesala Here's what I get on the About page:
Vivaldi 3.3.2022.47 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
OS Windows 10 OS Version 1903 (Build 18362.1082)
I don't have many extensions, but I also tried running in an incognito window with no extensions and got the same result. So it seems like maybe it's my settings, or conceivably something to do with the fact that I'm on a "G Suites" account, which sometimes behaves differently than regular Google. Of course, neither of those explain why the problem is only in the web panel. shrug

This doesn't account for issues with your profile, which is why the advice is to test in a new/clean profile.
-
@BoneTone Thanks. I tried that, default profile and same result (and different computer now - same version of Vivaldi, Windows is 2004). I even tried turning off Vivaldi's blocking feature.
Note, I am using regular desktop gmail, not a mobile version. (It had a hard time when I wanted to switch out of mobile, too. Changing it in the panel settings didn't work, I had to force gmail to switch to "desktop" and then switch from basic html to standard).
-
@Pesala what happens if you do your test with the desktop version of gmail in the panel? If I'm in the mobile version, yes I can click a link and download the file. It's when it looks like below that it gives me the "aborted" message.
-
@scampbll Whether I use the desktop version or the mobile version, I see the Aborted message in the web panel toolbar, but the attachment is downloaded successfully.
I wonder what process is being aborted?

@Pesala Thanks, I'll report it. Odd that you get the download and I don't.

No need! Don't give such tips. A clean profile means you start from scratch. Better first try "Private Window" [Ctrl+Shift+N].
Then all extensions are disabled. If it works there... you must find the villain. (Extensions? Addons? etc.) -

Using a different profile is part of Vivaldi's own Troubleshooting Guide. I'm repeating the advice that Vivaldi itself gives. Using a private window doesn't eliminate issues with your profile. There have been countless times where the problem was a corrupt profile. Testing in a different profile helps to track down that cause.

This seems to be resolved by 3.4. Which would explain why it worked for @Pesala and not me. I would guess VB-53443 was it.
