@jon your level of community engagement is amazing for a CEO
-
the notes section on side bar... too much sensitive, can not highlight and copy and close, unlike the other section on sidebar...

@Holly See this long thread on M3.
As you can see from the comments in this Techdows Topic, we have been expecting it “soon,” for a very long time.
Some call it vapourware, but I call it horizonware. It never gets any closer than real soon now, or when it is ready. I may be pushing up daisies before I get to use it at all, and without import of my Opera emails, it will still not be useful to me. I do not keep many emails, but those that I do keep, I need to refer to from time to time.

@npro Ta, interesting. You've found that some of them work, but the one in my pic before does not [for me]: https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/1726824003663/sbs-24x7-live-stream-nsw
-
@Steffie yeah can't access those, they need e-mail and whatever, I've clicked vods that were available in that initial link. But good you have reported it as the solution could affect more, unknown sites with vods and live-stream like that.

@Gwen-Dragon Thanks Lilo. I was briefly excited enough to make these edits:

However after relaunching Snapshot i found no improvement. Who knew that an upside-down clueless clot making entirely arbitrary edits to a critical file whilst having almost less than zero understanding would not in fact achieve a solution?

Editing notes via floating panel is "impossible" because the panel floats out. This problem was also present in the last snapshot.

it's great that we now can add a profile pic for offline profiles, thank you!
I have noticed that when I delete the used picture the old profile picture is used again.
so you should copy the profile picture inside the vivaldi profile
is this behavior a possible feature request or bug? -

Rather an FR—
I consider this as a sub-request of the one to save local files in the profile, but I cannot find it now & it depends on how it’s formulated.Umm, no, that one is only about SD thumbnails, I think you should make a new one. -
@derDay I think this is a design decision. The same applies for a lot of other custom images, like those used on bookmark thumbnails, mods, etc. It uses the file in its place on disk, and if it is removed, vivaldi reverts to the default.
I would suggest moving the files you want to keep into the profile path specified in
vivaldi://about
that way you don't accidentally delete them. -
@LonM
yeah, I think, that's the best approach@potmeklecbohdan
thanks for the hint -
@pesala: I know how to report a bug. I just wanted someone to confirm the problem.
Either way it is reported as VB-72752
-
it's not a V problem but a uM problem
Had the problem on others extensions too, sadly i can recall exactly which ones as i decided to go with 100% scale as it was getting impossible to use uMatrix that was the worse offender, i think bitwarden had issues too back when i was using ui scale but i'm not completely sure, i'll put scale to 95 again and write later about which extensions have issues.

... and allowing us to save backgrounds, patterns and in this case profile images inside our profile and allow them to sync.
@luetage Let's not forget SD thumbnails, which for whatever reason are not synced yet either (note screenshots as well, but these aren't related to customisation).

I can understand the devs being worried about potential storage issues if thumbnails are allowed to sync. Especially with bookmarks thumbnails, as these can easily go into the hundreds of MB per user if they have a lot of bookmarks.
The best solution would be to allow us to set SD thumbs to a net URL instead of a file, and then sync these as part of the config. Vivaldi could then download and cache the images locally in
VivaldiThumbnails
, ensuring users will have the same SD thumbs on all installs. -

Aha, you've just reminded me --
Cookie AutoDelete
also has this problem. -
@Steffie Ok i found another one, i'm using a modded version of a now discontinued download manager (it makes download manager similar to firefox that has a button with a small panel) and when there's just a couple downloads it works just fine but once a certain amount of downloads are present on the panel (completed downloads count) the chances of the issue being triggered increases.
I think the issue is caused by the extension panel re-calculating it's size after the panel has been opened and doing it too slow (umatrix when lots of connections are made, download manager with lots of downloads on the list).
Edit: Maybe is a chrom* bug after all:
