Lost session / all tabs
-
Well, this is bad Vivaldi just froze on me, and after some futile waiting I killed and restarted it - and all my tabs where gone! With Opera I'd go to the session folder and look for the last good backup... As it seems to turn out, in Vivaldi this is not possible! Two MAJOR issues here: 1. There only seems to be a "Current Tabs" and a "Last Tabs" entry in the profile, which both do NOT contain my last good session! 2. All the relevant files seem to be BINARY! This is ridiculous - even if the tab list was still there, I could not simply extract URLs by hand if need be! WHY don't you use XML or the like? WHY are there no further Backups of these informations?? This is really frustrating, I just lost some very important information which I can't reproduce easily (if at all...) - and I thought that Vivaldi would bring back Opera's power and glory of old (i.e. before Version 15....) I will not recommend Vivaldi to others (as I did so far) if stuff like session handling is not done BETTER and PROPERLY.

I understand your distress, but:
Do not use an Alpha or pre-Alpha software for "very important information." Ever. Vivaldi is substantially incomplete, under intensive development, and therefore unpredictable in function.

You obviously misunderstood the source of my frustration - the point being that the way Vivaldi handles this (no easily readable/extractable session file etc.) would've yielded the same problem if it was in release state or in version 37…
This is a fundamental problem, or do you really think that Vivaldi will later suddenly have a session store in a cleartext file?
I don't.
