Copy Keyboard Shortcuts, Custom Menus, and Settings to 2nd Profile
-
I decided to create a different, second profile for my work, and I want to copy my preferences, mainly keyboard shortcuts. What file(s) store this?
I do not need bookmarks, web panels, site data, etc...Thank you!
-
I would also like to copy over my custom menu, if anyone knows the file(s) for that.
-
Update: I copied
Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Preferences
andVivaldi\User Data\Default\Local App Settings\mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli
, which gave me keyboard shortcuts and some settings, now I am just looking for the file for my custom menu. -
@legobuilder26 Have a look at
mainmenu.json
-
@Pathduck I trying to do a similar thing as the OP but I can't find that file, or the directory "Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Preferences". There is a file called Preferences which I already transferred over.

@MindStateTrain Locate your profile path in Help, About.
-
@Pathduck That looks right, thank you!
-
@Pesala I'm in the profile folder, and I have the same files as in that screenshot but no mainmenu.json or any .json type. My version of Vivaldi is 3.1.1929.34 (Stable channel) (64-bit).
-
@MindStateTrain Have you modified your main menu?
I also had no mainmenu.json on my Stable install, but as soon as I made an edit the file appeared.
-
@Pesala I'll be honest I don't know what modifying the main menu means. The main menu is the V at the top left I assume but how does one mod that?
-
@MindStateTrain See Settings, Appearance, Menu Customisation. The question was about copying the Custom Menu; if you have not yet customised it there is nothing that needs to be copied. The default menu will be used in your existing profile and any new ones.
