Vivaldi 3.3 RC 1 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 2022.23/26
-
Oh and thanks @steffie for the report on the crash and all your replies to the questions I asked. Seems like we got there in the end!
-
Oh and before someone reports it, we just noticed the Internal favicons are blurry. Hmm... looks like there will be an RC2. I'll leave this with "RC" status as we want the testing of the other stuff and that is a very minor change/fix.
-
Very minor indeed, a dev has already fixed it internally.

-
Jumped from 3.1 RC (I know...) to 3.3 RC. Nothing bad happened
-
@gwen-dragon: Yes I did add that specifically for @Steffie
-
please fix this troublesome bug in time for the next release [VB-70371]...
-
while you guys are at it, please also let us customize the text color of inactive tabs so we can more easily spot the active tab [VB-58848]...

@Ruarí Thank goodness that you picked the safe one, & managed to avoid their rapaciously deadly cousins.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_bear
We lose thousands of OS tourists each year to these monsters, mistaking them for the safe ones, only to be ripped to shreads & eaten.

When will the problem with the dead bird finally be solved? https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/26686/get-rid-of-the-dead-birds/2 I have also reported it as a bug VB-70256 But no solution has been announced yet
-
@stardepp The team only wants latest regressions reported.
-
@Steffie Wrong citation!!
See Australian Museum for the proper info. -
VB-70804 is fixed, thank you!

[Address bar][Settings] Option to disable highlighting the base domain doesn’t work (VB-70976)
This works now, good. One missing thing is that if I search "highlight" in settings the option isn't found. Reported.
Summary: Searching "highlight" in settings the option "Highlight Base Domain" isn't found.
Key: VB-71297 -
So no M3 in 3.3? We all wished for M3 to land in 3.3 because of the version number
-
@Vistaus There are still 6 numbers - or more - for 3.x branch...
But I fear Vivaldi will jump to 4.0 with M3 -
@steffie: OS tourists deserve what they get. If you're a Mac person, stay a Mac person. If you like Win10, stay there. These people with their privilege who just drop in on various OS's from time to time are unacceptable.

I'm still seeing issues with VB-70698, which started a few snapshots ago.
I don't consider it a show-stopper. It's just some graphical corruption, and I can't even reproduce it consistently. It doesn't crash the browser or anything. As far as I can tell it's a visual annoyance.
Although, in my bug report I think I said that it was only Vivaldi's UI that had some corruption. But it does seem to cause some corruption on the web pages as well (so maybe it's a Chromium issue). The graphical corruption appears on some pages, usually when there is a position:fixed element on the page. So maybe it has to do with how many layers of objects are rendered on the web-page.
