How to use Picture in Picture to pop out videos
-
Picture in Picture, also known as PIP or Pop-out Video, is a web browser feature that lets you “pop out” videos in a floating window. Here’s how to use it.

@kened When it is ready is the only answer you are likely to get. It is pointless to ask about features that you want in every other thread.
When a feature request is currently being worked on the thread will acquire an In Progress tag.
As far as I can see, no one has even created a feature request thread yet for opening multiple PiP windows.

V's PiP has worked on all my needed sites for quite a long time now, except for https://www.dailymotion.com/video/. Whenever i need PiP on that, i use this extension
Picture-in-Picture for Chrome
, which works well.Fwiw, i just tried DM in Firefox Nightly. Its native PiP works well therein.

When will we have multiple pip's?
Is there any actual point in this.?..not sure about you but i only have 2 eyes and one pip is more than enough unless you like playing tennis with your eyeballs.?
I just don't see any practical reason to have several PiP windows popping out.
it is like sitting in your front room with 3 televisions all on at once.
just my opinion anyway. -
@kened Maybe the chromium developers saw the light and deduced multiple windows is a small priority at this moment.Plus i would imagine it is very distracting and only appeals to a minor fringe crowd.
-
As much as devs/owners may be exited about it (PIP), as user I may be annoyed and wanted to "stop" them from popping up.
Couldn't find how to do it in Settings.
Similarly I had issue with autoplay HTML5 videos on some pages and had to use third-party plugin to stop it.
The question: Why this is not part of Vivaldi settings? -
@gwen-dragon:
Yes, there is "Picture-in-Picture Button on Videos", but it sounds confusing.
Thanks, anyway -
I know that there are
people who will use PIP and demand it, but FFS, while PIP is slightly "better" than the workaround of a standard popped out browser window, there surely are higher priorities, no? Like syncing custom search engines.Yay PIP.

@priest72: Multiple pip's can be useful when watching sports, rocket launches (multiple streams), using multiple monitors, etc.
When will we have multiple pip's?This does apply only to other basic browsers like your beloved Chinopera, Vivaldi has Tab Tiling already for watching multiple videos and whatever multiple, so instead of asking about the same thing in every snapshot/stable thread like you are used to do in the spammy mess of Chinopera's so-called forums, not respecting other people's requests and forum rules again and again -despite being told numerous times not to do-, learn Vivaldi's features first, then think if your requests for other browsers apply here as well.
Here are (again) Vivaldi's features: https://vivaldi.com/features/

When will we be able to freely resize the pip window? Currently it goes to a certain size and then stops, can't go any bigger. E.g in opera I can go as bigger as I want.
Also I wish it could display subtitles.

whats the point?
just use another browser window. -

just use another browser window.See, Left is vivaldi's pip, right it's opera's.
Free resizing is important for the obvious reasons.
I hope you can see that. -
@konicya: Good Question! Sites like dailymail.co.uk terrorize all with unwanted videos/load!
-
@Regnas Thanks for that regnas..indeed i see the issue mentioned.i don't use it myself so my response was unfounded.
the fog is now clear and i see the road ahead. -
@regnas: why can't we just maximize with double click on pip? or pause wth single click anywhere? too intuitive for vivaldi?
-
@npro: where is tabtiling? no menu point found!
-
look here you crashed the play button with this pip thingie! -> https://www.zdf.de/live-tv. also vivaldi is horrible slow with embedded youtube videos, wont load youtube correctly sometimes, plus switching to fullscreen and going back takes ages!

Could you in any way to implement somekind of a lock button to the PiP video? I'm often using PiP when I'm gaming MMOs and when I'm doing my intese swinging of the mouse I accidentaly click the PiP video which leads to lose of control of the game and most certainly to death. If there would be a small lock button which I can click to lock all the interactions would be greatly appreciated if that is possible to impelement!
