Unpin panels (like Opera)
-
In Opera (the new one) you can pin and unpin side panels with a click on a little "pin" on the top right of the opened panel.
When a panel is pinned it is always showing on the side or always hidden, same behaviour as with Vivaldi.
When a panel is unpinned, it shows up when you click on it but automatically hides when you click somewhere in the main window. This is very useful for example if you use a chat website (whatsapp etc) in the side panel. If you get a notification, you get temporarily view the web panel and read or reply, and then the panel automatically hides itself once you're clicking on the main browser window. This saves the extra click of hiding the panel by clicking on the icon in the sidebar.
Furthermore, Opera's unpinned panels hover over the main window and do not change the window width, which means websites do not adjust to the narrower size and back.
This is a really nice feature if you don't want to have the sidebar panel open the whole time, but just for a few seconds when you need it.

@taronpro What if you go into settings > panel, then turn on "floating panel", and maybe also "auto-close"?

@taronpro
Hi, i have "Show Panel Toggle" checked, then you have only a tiny toggle left from the panel.Cheers, mib

Thank you thank you thank you!
That does the job. I recently switched from ChrOpera to Vivaldi and didn't find this. It works perfectly.

@taronpro Good to know that works! I'll close this request, if that's ok.
