Quick Command can adjust transparency

Quick Command can adjust transparency
F2 is a function I often use.
However, the F2 window often blocks the text I want to control at the bottom, causing me to adjust the web page so that the content I want to see is not blocked by the F2 window. Why not allow the Quick Command window to adjust transparency?
In this case, I can see the content at the bottom, as well as what I am typing in the Quick Command window -
@poto Just hit F2 again to see the window below. We’re not writing novels in quick commands after all. Should you want this for the looks rather than functionality it’s another story.

But that would be inconvenient. I've found myself in situations where I have to copy something into Quick Commands manually (e.g. a link in an image, so it can't be selected and copied). The optimal way of doing this for me would be to look at the thing I'm copying as I'm writing, but if QC gets in the way I have to:
- Read part of the link.
- Ctrl+Q (open QC).
- Write as much as I can remember.
- Ctrl+A
- Ctrl+C
- Ctrl+Q
- Read more of the link.
- Back to step 2.
Yes, there are workarounds like writing into the address bar or notepad, but that means I have to use a completely different workflow compared to what I always do. If QC was transparent or if I could move it, then I could use my preferred workflow, just keep my eyes on what matter and reduce the above list of probably 24-100 steps down to 3 steps.
(This isn't a rare occurrence for me, by the way.)

This seems like a fairly straightforward mod. If you're not comfortable inspecting the browser to find the selector you need and writing a couple lines of CSS, you could bring this up in the [Modifications] category of the forum and folks there could assist you in creating the mod.
-
@BoneTone @Komposten never talked about a selector, but specifically mentioned an image which pictures a link to a website. That’s a farfetched example but fits the need nicely obviously. Well, no idea, I've never been in the situation. In my opinion it would make more sense to give quick commands the option to save whatever has been written into it when closing and loading it again when it is next called, all automatically. This would only apply to a quick command that hasn’t been executed.

That would be helpful. I do think just adding a narrow border at the top which can be grabbed to move the QC window would be the best solution for me, though.
And yes, the link-in-image thing is quite far-fetched. I know I have this problem with needing to see behind QC every now and then, but I couldn't remember a specific example of when I've needed it.

My transparent QC (Kirjanmerkit):
I found a .css somewhere here on the forum. -

There already is an option…

@potmeklecbohdan Lo, they thought about everything. But it’s always nice to invent a feature that already has been implemented – more fun than waiting for something to make its way into Vivaldi.

@luetage I didn't reply to Komposten. I was responding to the OP. Making the Quick Command dialog have some transparency seems like it's probably a pretty straightforward mod, without having done any investigation on my part. But it seems like it's just a matter of inspecting the dialog and its elements and writing a little bit of CSS to set the transparency as one desires. I almost never use the feature, so I'm not entirely familiar with that dialog.

@BoneTone @kissanviikset
#modal-bg {opacity: 0.88;}
| how to -
@luetage right... that is what I was doing (perhaps less effectively than intended), but with more words and fewer links & code. Just letting the OP know that it shouldn't be a difficult mod, but if they weren't comfortable with CSS the folks in the Modifications category are super helpful -- as you've demonstrated once again.
That's weird that the ID uses what appears at first glance to be a rather generic name, more like a class for all modal dialogs rather than the quick commands dialog's ID.

It is a generic name—it’s used e.g. also for import bookmarks.
-
@potmeklecbohdan Not only that, also for the windows to delete browsing data and opening saved sessions. It’s in the name, modal background ^^
-
Well that makes sense then, but you'd end up with transparency on all those as well, which may not be desired. If the user wanted to only effect the quick commands they'd need a more specific selector. But I don't really make use of quick commands, I was just pointing this out for those who wanted this.
-
@BoneTone The quick commands window has an extra unique class (
.qc-modal
) compared to the dialogues hanging from top. And whenever this changes we could always cook something up with javascript. But no reason to sweat it until someone both wants this and is willing to set up a mod for themselves. -
@luetage That's exactly what I expected. I had written that in my reply before switching machines and losing my draft. So I just went with a brief & to the point reply instead of all the details about IDs & classes. Although that seems backwards to me... the modal-bg seems like it should be a class, as it applies to many dialogs, while qc-modal an ID, or class, but if one is an ID... regardless, folks have what they need now if they want a transparent quick commands dialog without effecting other dialogs.
