Disappearing tabs when closing other [SOLVED]
-
Well, basically what the title says. For quite a few builds, I've been experiencing tabs disappearing when I close other tabs. What usually happens is that when I close some of the tabs, the leftmost tab from the tab bar disappears as well. It's not gone permanently - when I restart the browser, it appears again. But until the browser is restarted, there seems to be no way of accessing this "hidden" tab - Vivaldi simply doesn't see it anymore, neither it is in the list of the closed tabs. Now I'm using quite a few tabs (around 50 is my norm) and I believe it only happens when you've got quite a few tabs open - but I'm not entirely sure on that. Can anyone confirm or is it just me? Is that a known issue? It's kinda annoying

YES! I hate itโฆ It happens to me & the only way to access said tab is by keyboard shortcuts. Ive only ever had like 5tabs max & it even happens with as little as 2 or 3 tabs... Ive been dealing with this for like 3 builds now & I thought I was the only one so THANK YOU for proving Im not alone

Same here This is the only thing preventing me from setting Vivaldi snapshot as my default browserโฆ

Try to disable doubleclik to close a tab

Try to disable doubleclik to close a tab
I've never even enabled that setting, yet I still experience these disappearing tabsโฆ

Yep, same here. Never even activated that option.
However, I've already filed bug report a while back, so keeping my fingers crossed for a fix coming soon enough. It's also probably the last thing keeping me from finally using Vivaldi as my main browser.

Tools/Settings/Tabs - untick: Close Tab On Double-Click

This happened to me in a previous snapshot.
I uninstalled Vivaldi (deleted all folders) and took a fresh install. Problem disappeared -
I also had this bug some time ago, but I found out it was related to some changes I made on the vivaldi://flags page. I've reset all those flags to default, using the button at the top of that page, and the problem was gone.
Unfortunately I didn't change the settings back one-by-one to find out which one of them caused the problem.

You know what? That actually seems to work! I need to test it a bit more, I just opened and closed a few tabs, but it really looks like the issue is now gone.
I've made a screenshot of which flags I had changed, so as time allows, I'll go through them to see if I can pinpoint the one responsible for this (assuming the solution works).

Welp. It didn't take long, looks like.
chrome://flags/#enable-fast-unload
Funny thing is, I honestly don't remember ever activating that flag. But yeah, as soon as I enable this, tabs start disappearing again when closing other tabs.

Funny thing, I just got one of those invisible tabs, it's a YouTube video, I can't get rid of it.
Ctrl+Tab doesn't cycle to that tab, Ctrl+1/2/3โฆ also doesn't seem to do anything, not even Ctrl+W does anything. This is priceless.
As I was writing this I just got an idea of how to get myself rid of that tab - Settings -> Startup with -> Start Page ... restart Vivaldi.
