Vivaldi 3.1 RC 1 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 1929.23

One regression I've reported earlier in this release cycle is VB-67613. I don't think it's a show-stopper, but it can be a bit annoying.
Closing a tab (using CTRL+W or the close tab mouse gesture) when a video is playing fullscreen causes the browser to unmaximize (changes to a small window). If the video is not fullscreen, closing the tab works as expected (browser remains maximized). YouTube is an easy test for this.
-
@LonM See this, executed with a fresh profile, current vivaldi snapshot. I have only opened a new tab after pressing enter.
With this, other already loaded tabs may also have the newly entered address loaded.
-
@Hadden89 If you enter an address, press enter and open a new tab directly after, two new tabs are actually opened and the address is loaded in the front tab.
See animation above.
If you enter an address, press enter and switch tabs, another tab may end up having the entered side loaded.

@Gwen-Dragon You lock the feature request topic for removing dead birds and post the feature request on a snapshot release blog, without linking back to the original topic. Is this the new way to bring feature requests through? If so, we’re gonna see a ton of feature request posts in upcoming blog comment sections.
Sorry to say this in that way, but could you remove that necrophilic "Dead Bird" image for crashed tabs?
I don’t think anyone feels sexually attracted to the lifeless canary, so I wouldn’t call it necrophilia. But I guess that was a mistake and not the intended meaning.
-
@Gwen-Dragon That's what necrophilia (nécrophilie) means in French: sexual attraction to deads. BTW, you're right, it comes from Greek, meaning liking death.

@hlehyaric My ancient greek language knowledge , i thought is similar to philosophy (=loving wisdom, nothing sexual).
Please stop discussion on this, i feel ashamed.
Even though the term is etymologically of Greek origin, apparently the definition as used today was coined around 1850 by a Belgian physician. So you are sort of justified to be confused by the meaning if you are not aware of how it is used. In Greek there is a word that describes more closely what you were thinking of, which is thanatophilia (θανατοφιλία). It literally means love ("-φιλία" - the expression of love for something) for death ('θάνατος"), as opposed to "νεκρό/necro" which is more specific, meaning something that has died.

By comparing the Browsers and their capabilities, stability and download speed. Comparisons of Chrome, Edge Opera (which has not turned into a stable and headache)
Currently Best in Speed (Windows 10 64bit 2004)
In order Edge Dev> then Chromum Dev 85 (I use it out of seductiveness and simple design (Material design))
From the understanding of the news that large companies like Microsoft are developing their Chromuim Product with Direct3d11 and 12 Support
and Media Feature (which was first introduced in Firefox), videos on YouTube are loaded directly onto the Video Card with an additional increase.
so I expect in the following snapshots and would like to re-release Vivaldi to the 65 or 64 version of the Chromium builds. That's why they are snapshots that these are experiments -

Actually, the canary/dev version of chromium is not aimed to users, as it is a daily (most) untested build.
I'm quite Pleased with the Dev build sedge of Edge n Chrome. Edge will be better in terms of speed, but still not comfortable with its planning history.https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4562569/media-feature-pack-for-windows-10-n-may-2020
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windowstrue, but in edge e it brings an additional boost and play video on default vp1
this is the right way to load videos...
it's been a problem and stays as long as the chrome/edge/Firefox browsers solve this.
-
@Hadden89 Chromium 65 is quite old.
my mistake I meant Chromum Dev 85 -
@Artymka1 The media feature pack is not about video card acceleration but about missing codecs on particular windows editions (called N).
Also vivaldi need that, but not for having graphic acceleration but to playback some protected videos.
If Edge has a different/better way to accelerate vp1 videos, this may be an useful request.
As a main browser, chromium canary/dev is not a good idea. Better stay with the stable (83) or the beta (84) if you want more frequent updates. -
