Move "V" Menu to bar below, then eliminate entire wasted row space?
-
This is in Linux, with Native Window enabled [ie, the Custom Hook "move-window-buttons-maximized.js" is inapplicable here, & anyway it only works when browser is maximised, which i don't do].
-
ooer, that looks like a big oversight in the design of the UI. Would you be willing to file a bug report for it, please?
-
Iβve been using this for quite some time. It doesnβt move the menu button, but I almost always use
Alt
anyway./* Disable header when there's only the menu button */ #browser.native:not(.tabs-top):not(.horizontal-menu) #header { display: none !important; }
-
@LonM OK sure, but it's been this way for years. I've kept patiently waiting for the update that would fix it, because it is so glaringly obviously horrible i assumed everyone already knew of it. If only there was some Linux-based QA Engineer... :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:

@potmeklecbohdan Your words confuse me in the context of my pic. Pls could you post a pic showing yours with your mod active, so i can be sure we are actually talking about the same thing?
-
@Steffie There would be nothing to see. I completely hide the header, including the menu button. Hence the only way to access the menu is pressing
Alt
. -
@Steffie Does this CSS mod do the trick?
#browser.native.linux #header, #browser.native.win #header { min-height: 0px; overflow: visible; height: 0px; z-index: 5; } #browser.native #titlebar { top: 4px; } #browser.native .toolbar.toolbar-addressbar { padding-left: 35px; }

header, including the menu button
It is your use of the word
header
here that confused me. Pls note i'm not a coder/programmer & am not familiar with the jargon.However i now deduce that the header must be what i simply called the bar/row currently holding only the V menu.
-
@Steffie Fun fact - according to the code this bar is called both "Titlebar" and "Header" βοΈ

Oh dear me i am so thrilled - finally after years of that total space-waste it is solved! Eureka.
Thank you sooooo much, i love it.
-
@LonM VB-68282.
-
Yep. I'd love to see this included.
We have several mods for that which heavily depends on some settings: native vs non native, v button vs hamburger icon, tab position, specific OS css code, main profile vs guest, UI scaling ecc ecc.
Guess is the reason why was never "fixed". But at least now I know its VB. -
