Bring RSS reader to Vivaldi
-
I would highly appreciate not to see any built-in RSS modules in future Vivaldi releases.
- There are already very good extensions out there for that, and I prefer to choose my extension by myself, instead of having a bloated Vivaldi with a built-in subpar reader (see Opera).
- If you are using a good news aggregator, it might be the best solution to use the web view of the news aggregator anyway.
-
@tflo It's completely pointless trying to prevent it, because it has already been developed. Moreover the complaint about bloat is a prejudice. If you don't use the RSS reader Vivaldi will neither use more RAM, nor more CPU afaik β the only thing you will probably notice is a slightly bigger application, but I don't expect it to be significant.

What has happened to Zebra RSS, was it removed from the Chrome Store and for what reason? I can only find it in https://www.crx4chrome.com/crx/80309/ . It was pretty good, and unlike Feedbro very straightforward, kinda like old Presto one or the emulation of it (RSS Aggregator), no extra menus on icon clicking, no unneccessary "general intro" screens etc, stuff that one has to look in the settings to alter.

FYI: Vivaldi's coming mail client (codename M3) has a Feed reader. M3 is currently heavily tested by Vivaldi tester team. Stay tuned.
Uhhh, can't wait.

@Pathduck , I think RSN and WIR covers it really.
We are very close now, but not this month.

Technically, "not this month" means not this week, as next week is June.

Feedbro is a comprehensive feed reader with many views and settings.

-
@Gwen-Dragon Have you tried this view?
-
@Gwen-Dragon Exactly it was way counter-productive and felt a bit "too heavy" as well, that's why I prefered Zebra over it, with just one click you had all the results presented to you similar to M2, but since it was removed from the Chrome webstore without an explanation I've stopped using it. I use an applet for RSS in the taskbar now in Mint but I am still interested in Vivaldi's RSS for my other machine.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Is that gonna help you?
-
@stardepp One of the best settings Feedbro has are Rules to filter yours feeds.
