What I would change right away
-
As a true Opera fan (since v. 5), I'm impressed by the Vivaldi browser and most of all, its goals. But alas, Vivaldi is in its inception. So we must be patient. I've been using it for only a week or so, and here is what I would improve right away (some items are probably harder to implement): -ability to rename speed dials !!! -rounder corners of speed dials -fix the moving of speed dials (takes up more resources than Opera) -clone tab must clone tab history as well (be able to go back/forward if you can in the original tab) -option to open link in background tab!!!! -use stash system from Opera instead of only classic bookmarks (one click suffices to send page to stash, other options available if you select them on prompt) -make the menu more visually appealing (right now it's just flat - work in progress I suspect) -custom themes -extensions!!! -fix flash player and general stability (lots of instances where flash videos stutter or run extremely sluggishly) I also subscribe to what this guy said [quote="Dracoster" post=27394]So I've been testing Vivaldi for a few days, and I have some nitpicks to share. [ol] [li]Speed Dial needs to be configurable. Max columns, custom thumbs, removable +-button. Things like these.[/li] [li]Bookmarks needs a Menu bar menu. [ol]- Speed Dial needs to be configurable. Max columns, custom thumbs, removable +-button. Things like these.
- Bookmarks needs a Menu bar menu. Having to open the sidebar, click on Bookmarks, find the bookmark and then doubleclick the bookmark to open is too much. There's no flow. Let has the two (or three if in a folder) click procedure.
- Auto selection in the search bar. Having to stop typing after seeing that your click in the search bar didnt select all text, breaks workflow. Text is selected if tabbing from adress bar.
- Bring back doubleclick on tab-bar to open new tab. Also, the +-button on the tab-bar is annoying.
- Progress bar. Seriously? White on 99% white?
- There's no connection indicator. There's no way to see if the tab is trying to connect, other than the progress bar (see above).

Renaming speed dials can be done in bookmarks interface. I'm SURE it will come to the speed dial interface sooner than later.
Skinning ability appears to be a primary goal of the authors. So your rounded corners should be an option when that arrives.
Optimization of resource use is a stated goal of the developers
ALL tab handling and tab options are sure to be improved, so history of a cloned tab is definitely not out of the question.
They are already working on "open link in background tab." In the meantime, middle-click does this. So does Ctrl+click.
Stash? Whatever…
Skinning.
Skinning.
They are working hard on making extensions fully supported. They can be installed and are partly supported now.
We'll have to see what happens with Flash. Flash and Java both are borderline technologies that some browsers and many websites are beginning to phase out. The future is not certain.
-
They used to call it "Stash". It's basically a very quick and handy bookmark system.
-
I've used Opera forever and never heard of "Stash" until NewOpera.
-
Precisely. New Opera destroyed much of what Opera 12 was, we all remember that dreadful moment. But as versions kept coming, it did improve, bringing back some features, and ultimately coming up with a few nice, ergonomic, and handy features. Such as these one-click bookmarks, smarter speed dial (which vivaldi implemented as well), though Opera somehow forgot about the reload function.
I love Vivaldi's menu when you download something, giving you the option to automatically open that file (a torrent file, for example). It was easily one of the things that I hated the most about new Opera. What I miss most about the old Opera is the sheer instantaneous back/forward speed of loading a page. Coupled with the rocker gestures, you could browse at the speed of lighting. That is sadly not possible anymore, in any browser…

SD can be renamed, since day one. Just click on the name and start typing, or use the bookmark manager
-rounder corners of speed dials
Matter of personal taste, personally I don't agree here.
BTW aesthetics is also matter of trends, and the actual trend is all about squared elements. Vivaldi can't ignore it-fix the moving of speed dials (takes up more resources than Opera)
That's a bug that affects someone. Devs are aware of it
-clone tab must clone tab history as well (be able to go back/forward if you can in the original tab)
Agreed, that's necessary
-option to open link in background tab!!!!
Get used with middle button for now. Was one of the best Opera features, its still true for Vivaldi
-use stash system from Opera instead of only classic bookmarks (one click suffices to send page to stash, other options available if you select them on prompt)
Never used it
-make the menu more visually appealing (right now it's just flat - work in progress I suspect)
See above
-custom themes
Would be nice, although I IMO functionality should came first.
-extensions!!!
Many extensions are already working
-fix flash player and general stability (lots of instances where flash videos stutter or run extremely sluggishly)
I never faced that behavior.

I have, and on two very different PCs, too… who run Opera 29 just fine...

I will say most of the time Flash works flawlessly for me on Win 8.1 x64, using Vivaldi 32. Once in a while (once every two or three days), however, it inexplicably just won't work, and I have to restart the browser to restore normalcy.
And thank for reminding me again, The_Solutor, that renaming speed dials is as simple as clicking on the title and typing. It's been so long since I wanted to rename one, I forget these little things.

-clone tab must clone tab history as well (be able to go back/forward if you can in the original tab)
^^^^ Seconded, this is the only bug that I feel affects daily use.

Greetings
-EDIT
Disregard I found out how to do this: View > Toggle Menu Position in case anyone is interested.I would like suggest implementing a 'show menu bar' action to get rid of the silly corner button ( i.e. actually show the 'File' 'Tools' etc. on a bar a la Opera 12) That is something I have sorely missed in the later versions of opera, and I personally dislike that style of button.
