Vivaldi suddenly cannot open any web pages
-
I don't know why, suddenly Vivaldi could not open any webpage.
At first I thought it was a network problem. I found that firefox opened any webpage normally, and it was very fast. Other software also connected to the network normally, so the network problem was ruled out.
This situation usually occurs in the scene where I create a lot of Vivaldi windows. I create a lot of windows. After a while, Vivaldi cannot load any web pages, and only restarts Vivaldi.
Vivaldi is unable to load any web pages, it is not a network problem.
This has been the case since my last update, and this has happened frequentlyI recorded a comparison video to illustrate the problem through the actual use of vivodi and firefox respectively

modedit link is expired -
Happened to me a couple of days ago. What's really weird is that when you press enter in the address bar it opens a new tab instead of going to the address you put in. So if I opened a new tab and wrote "vivaldi.net", I would get a second tab trying to load that URL (but staying blank, like in your video).
@Gwen-Dragon I am about 99 % certain that this was not caused by an OOM. I usually sit at around 50 % of my memory capacity (i.e. 8 GB free), and I would have noticed immediately if I had run out (because system lag).

@Gwen-Dragon
-
@Komposten I also think it's not a memory issue, it's more like a browser bug
Other browsers and software are normal, only vivaldi cannot open any web pages at all
-
I'm getting exactly the same thing. Sites that were opening up just fine this morning aren't now working this afternoon.
Firefox and Opera can both open these sites ok.
Vivaldi gives me an ERR_TIMED_OUT error.
I've tried closing Vivaldi and reopening but just get the same error.
I've also tried clearing my computer's DNS cache. Does Vivaldi keep its own DNS cache?
I'm using Linux Mint (yes I know this is the Windows forum, but thought I'd chip in that this problem doesn't appear to be unique to Windows).

@Gwen-Dragon said in Vivaldi suddenly cannot open any web pages:
Such issues may be caused by:
Broken Windows service CryptSvc (rarely)
Any security software on your PCsWell since I'm running on Linux it's not CryptSvs.
Also, since I'm on Linux, I don't run an anti-virus or any such software like that. I've got uBlock Origin, but disabling that didn't help.
I've noticed on some sites that still work with Vivaldi that they can be very slow, eg I can watch each individual image slowly appear and it can take 10 minutes to load an image-heavy page.
BTW: one of the sites that doesn't load is vivaldi.net

@TheBitBandit
Hi, vivaldi.net load in 2/10 if a second on my Opensuse Linux and my Windows systems.
It seams something broken in your installation and/or in your profile.
Check guest profile, it disable all settings and extensions.
If this work one of your extensions or the profile is broken.
Check: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/10388/refreshing-or-cleaning-your-profileIf this not work backup your profile directory and delete /opt/vivaldi.
Reinstall Vivaldi.Cheers, mib

Thanks for your suggestion @mib2berlin
Today when I turned on my PC Vivaldi worked fine! I'm using it to write this message.
I don't know what the problem was but if it returns then I'll try your profile cleaning suggestions.
Thanks!

@Gwen-Dragon So is this a problem caused by the system update?
What can I do?
This problem occurs too frequently and seriously affects use. -
@poto Check out the details at the link provided by @Gwen-Dragon.
-
Thanks to @Gwen-Dragon for pointing out the solution
Thanks to @Pesala ’s reminder, I tried to read and understand, and then consulted a friend who understands IT, I spoke out my judgment, and she judged whether it was correct

Unfortunately, the problem is not solved. vivaldi will still suddenly have no internet and can't open any web pages!
This question is giving me a huge headache. It is always abruptly disconnected from the network.
The next time this happens, I can allow the Vivaldi team to remotely connect to my computer for bug information -
@Gwen-Dragon I installed the patch, but the problem was not resolved. I suspect this isn't the solution to the problem.
-
@Gwen-Dragon You got that right!
-
@Gwen-Dragon I have no third party security software on my computer, only Window Defender.
I have not done any special security settings. In fact, the reason why vivaldi is experiencing network disconnects that don't open any pages is after a previous update, probably last month. Never had this problem before then.
Other browsers are normal, other software is normal, only Vivaldi appears unable to open the pageI can let you remotely control my computer to troubleshoot the problem the next time I have this problem. If you don't mind.

I have been experiencing the same issue for some time now as well. Vivaldi suddenly stops loading any websites and requires a restart to get back to normal. I noticed that it tends to happen randomly when playing/ loading videos or when having two profiles open at the same time. It's really inconsistent and not easy to reproduce in a concrete manner.
I am not behind a proxy. I'm not sure if my issue is caused by the same thing as poto's but it does look similar.
-
@mtaki14 If you match the following conditions, then we are likely to face the same problem.
- Suddenly.
- Can't open any web page, but other browsers or software open any web page normally. In other words, only Vivaldi cannot open any web pages.
- Vivaldi behaves as if it has lost its internet connection, but the internet connection is normal and other software has internet connection.
- Vivaldi can only be restarted to normal.
- High frequency. (a) This will happen once in a few days or so.
- Irrelevant to the operation of the user. Just restart vivaldi and you'll be back to normal. If it's a system problem, then other browsers won't be able to open any web pages, not just vivaldi.
-
@poto Yeah, sounds similar.
Did you manage to notice any pattern in regards to what you were doing at the time when the issue happens?
-
I can also confirm that I experience the same issue that @Komposten described here:
Happened to me a couple of days ago. What's really weird is that when you press enter in the address bar it opens a new tab instead of going to the address you put in. So if I opened a new tab and wrote "vivaldi.net", I would get a second tab trying to load that URL (but staying blank, like in your video).
-
@mtaki14 Only normal web browsing, nothing else to do.
There are no rules. I only open the other browser test URL when the page won't load, and if it's normal, I know the vivaldi bug is happening again and I have to restart vivaldi.
