Vivaldi 2.11 improves Pop-out video
-
@Catweazle They just need a dartboard to improve their aim and make sure that they can add up.
-
Well, ya win some ya lose some
Sometimes I think being a Vivaldi dev must feel something like this:
-
The PiP function is a downgrade not an upgrade. If I want to be annoyed by my browser I'll switch to Microsoft Edge.
-
Personally, I think it's a neat option, but it's not very well implemented. It shows up on audio files, and sometimes it is obstructed by the player elements, for example in YouTube embeds. And of course, not everyone is gonna like it, so having a toggle for it would be great. I just hope the devs are working on it and we'll be getting an update (or a snapshot) soon.
-
@Catweazle Well apart from a certain Opera fanboy here, I haven't seen anyone else doing what you describe tbh. I think also that this controversy is the perfect example how new(trendy) Opera and Vilaldi users are different in terms of mentality, quality and needs.
-
@npro , the same as between old and new Opera fans, I think.
-
@Catweazle I don't think such thing as "old Opera fans" exists anymore lol, as I'm pretty sure all the old Opera (= practically Presto Opera) fans have moved here, judging from what I've seen in their blogs and forums all these years with their fancy-trendy-shopping-feminine-hipstery design language and direction, and the fanboys there applausing that direction, it's a new audience altogether. Except from some old 3-4 folks there bitching all the time because they can't let go of their addiction to the product/company name, despite having nothing to do with the old company led by Jon.
-
@npro , do you mean those who pay double for a shirt to be able to make free propaganda with the Nike logo covering the entire chest? of these I also know some
-
@Catweazle You're a true (Old) Opera fan when you paint your toilet seat red. (Source: My Opera thread titled βYou're a true Opera Fan When ...β
I still consider myself an Old Opera fan, though my toilet seat is still white. I use Opera for its email client, and for editing HTML files on my local drive. -

@dfhgdtj said in Vivaldi 2.11 improves Pop-out video:
@nekomajin: extension buttons?
They can be moved while holding Shift. Somehow itβs just not written anywhere about this. You are mistaken, it was written

in the blog when Vivaldi 2.4 was released:
https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-2-4-next-level-toolbar-customisation/ -
in the blog again when it was explained how it was done:
https://vivaldi.com/blog/building-buttons-that-move/ -
it's always there in Vivaldi's help section when pressing F1 and looking for "toolbars", or "edit toolbars":

It's been 9 days, and the annoying picture in picture button is still there and there's no update to remove it in sight. If I were you, I'd be treating this as if it crashes on startup. And being completely silent for 9 days after an update introduced a critical flaw is unacceptable.
//MODEDIT: Post moved from another thread
-
@grishka Posting this again in the wrong thread is completely off-topic. Stop being a pest. Ayespy already told you it will be addressed asap. We might still get an update today, but it is a bit late in the day now.
It is not a blocker that prevents the browser working. Just ignore the icon and let it fade after a few seconds.
The good news is that it is already fixed internally so I guess we will see it in the next Snapshot (some time next week).
Please do not post off-topic in the linked thread. It is strictly for asking about the status of reported bugs.
-
@grishka , your criticism (in the wrong thread) made sense if Vivaldi was a great company with hundreds of developers, which is not the case. Even in large companies an update may take even months and in many even without taking into account the users. Surely this is going to be fixed although it may take more than 9 days, there are also things and bugs from other users that need more than this button. A little more patience, please.

Loving F6. Thanks.

@pesala: tnx m8...

Today I installed about 5th or 6th update after they add this annoying button and still there is no option to disable it.
Why they don't want to add it to main browser release?
-
@smallboobslover They will, but only to 2.12 Stable release. Updates to a current Stable only fix security issues or critical bugs. Cosmetic issues may be annoying, but they are not critical.
Install the Snapshot as a standalone installation in any suitable folder and use that as your default. That is what most of us frequent posters do.

How do I turn the popup video button off? Imho it's a bad implementation, it gets stuck and in general annoying placement. I already have a tiny addon that resides on the toolbar, to make any video pop out. Vivaldi's button should not interfere with videos inside the page, but be a button that just makes the main/active video to popup.
