Side panel disappeared

I used to have a side panel with speed dial which include regularly used links, email, websites etc. Following the last update the panel (F7) is now completely blank. How do I get it back please

Are you referring to the "bookmarks" in the side panel (Speeddial is a new tab feature)?
BTW F4 is the key to open the side panel; F7 just "focuses" it (see tools/settings/keyboard - view).

For me, F7 will both show (if it is currently hidden) and focus the active panel - though that does raise the question of which panel is currently active. Click on the bookmark icon in the sidebar (the ribbon) to make sure that is the active panel. If you don't see a bookmark icon, right-click an empty area of the sidebar and make sure Bookmarks is checked to be displayed on the sidebar. If that doesn't help ... check your theme, maybe there isn't enough contrast for you to see it?

As the side panel was blank I was clicking the + to add side panel, I see now a right click and select bookmark. Thanks for guiding me in that direction.
More confusing because with Bookmark side panel open that first folder is Speed Dial. Thanks again
