A few issues
-
I'm unsure whether or not these issues have been addressed, so I'll address the issues I haven't seen on the forum yet. 1. Closing the last tab of a window using cmd-W won't work as another tab just pops up. Only way to get past this is by closing it using the red button (top-left) or pressing cmd-Q 2. During some situations, the address bar will stop allowing me to enter a link. Suggestions will still pop up though and I can click them to go to the link. The search engine bar will work fine all the time. The only way to fix this is to quit the browser and reopen it. 3. When playing a video and entering into full screen (with the browser also in full screen mode). If you were to try to exit full screen mode of the video, you'll also end up exiting the full-screen mode of the browser... 4. The normal cmd-M for minimise on Mac can't be used as it is used to make the extra options on the top left appear and disappear. I also can't seem to change this in the settings window [Maybe an issue] 5. Those with an app called "Sticky Password will know. In Google Chrome, whenever it opens, it will ask you to enter your "stickypassword keychain", and it will not disappear until the correct password is entered. Now since Vivaldi is based on Chromium, the same issue also appears. However what's different with Vivaldi and Chrome is that in Vivaldi it will only ask you to enter the keychain password when you first access the 'settings' window on your first session 6. Only on Vivaldi. If the 9gag site is opened and left alone for too long (you leave the tab or stay inactive), the screen will turn black and something like a 'broken image' icon will appear in the middle Some extra issues: -Addressed already, but if the problem with opening two tabs at the same time could be solved, that would be great -In issue 1, I once tried spamming cmd-W. When I opened Vivaldi the next time, a window popped up with over 10 tabs opened. It ate a lot of ram. -In Speed Dial, ever since I accidentally pressed cmd-R on a new blank tab, the icons have started reloading ever single time I open a new session. I also don't know how to reset the icons without clean deleting Vivaldi (using appcleaner)

I actually requested this behavior since it disrupts my workflow (at least for me). https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser-for-mac/2493-feature-request-prevent-vivaldi-from-closing-when-closing-last-active-tab
Looking at the replies, I think everyone was in agreement. I was really glad it was implemented. My reason being is that I can unintentionally close the browser with cmd+w then it will be in hidden/close state. Another problem was it also destroys the session. Meaning even downloads are interrupted. So why do you even need to "hide" the browser via cmd+w on last tab when you can just click on the red X button on the upper left hand corner or just hit cmd+h to hide the browser, or even just close the browser entirely with cmd+Q.
But I'm wondering why it wasn't implemented as a changeable setting like sverrejoh said. Seeing that the original behavior is what you wanted.
But your suggestion should be an optional behavior available in settings.
Do you agree?

This Dead-bird? If it recurs repeatedly on page, Christoph142 suggests bug report.

Hmm… I guess that as a great implementation, but in the 162.2 release of Vivaldi, they made it so that when closing a window, it wouldn't close your session. I guess we would only need one of the following:
1. cmd-W can't close the window, so the session doesn't close
2. closing a window does not end the session -

I'm going to wait for a while. I want to first find some one who captures the bug on their own vivaldi browser, or I want to encounter it myself so I can report it along with the browser version. By the way, this happened a few versions back. Who knows, maybe it was fixed.

Yes, I had it happen just a couple of times a few version back in Vivaldi for Windows, and thought it was simply the tab crashing (as happens sometimes in Chrome). But it didn't happen enough for me to notice any pattern at the time, and I haven't seen it at all since then.

1. cmd-W can't close the window, so the session doesn't close
2. closing a window does not end the sessionWell the functionality/behavior is already there so in the end we just need to request the dev team to implement it as an optional setting or toggle in the settings page.
For me, even if the session itself is not closed like you said, I still don't what the entire browser window hidden or closed when closing the last tab. -
Is it just me, or does Preview 4 REFUSE to close the last tab now (using ctrl/cmd + w)
I agree there should be an option to exit the browser or not once all tabs are closed, but refusing to accept hotkeys conditionally seems a bit odd to me.

You have a problem - but TP4 is better than TP3.
Vivaldi use a huge amount of CPU / GPU on Mac Maverick (10.9) - more than 25%. Opera use less than 1% and this is completely transparent. With less memory on the laptop this will make it stall. Please: Before saying "Me too" - start task manager - find "GPU" and post CPU usage: mine 24.4% - 135MB of memory
This may even be hardware related, but OS version: 10.9.5 Maverick, and 8GB of RAM.
Suggestion: Give us a button to turn on / off "hardware acceleration" - Apple may change NVIDIA drivers. I suspect a signalling bug. -
Cool…..
The CPU / GPU drain is killed by starting Opera..
I started Opera to copy all windows and open them here, and the CPU activity indicator I use, dropped. Running one browser with say 25 tabs in 3 windows caused a load of 100% on two processors (200%)... started Opera and ran the same windows / tabs and maybe a few more - and the CPU usage nosedived to 40% - for both. Quit Opera, and now use 10-15% - normal.
