@lonm: You are too fast !!!
But yeah, the picture is particulary well chosen -
@lonm: No-one expects that header image!

ROFL!

Depicting a clothed sand puppy (in tradition with the pugs).
-
@ruario (@puggio!)
Still getting dead bird on exit (Debian 10). Is this expected behaviour - it's no longer listed in Known Issues.

The perfect cloaking vest
-
@ruario nice photo!

A wild Ruarí appears!

Puguarí.
Would be nice to have a switcher for UserAgent at some point, but I understand how can be annoying for some users/sites handle with this issue.
(I've to check some sites in which I had glitches and see if they were UA related) -
" Thus maintaining a list of sites where we present a non-Vivaldi User Agent is difficult. Instead, we will try doing the reverse. For a handful of sites where we know the label Vivaldi (and our version number) is responsibly used, we will present our full User Agent. Those sites being our own and a handful of interesting alternative search engines: duckduckgo.com, ecosia.org, qwant.com, and startpage.com. Every other site will get a User Agent that appears to be identical to Chrome."
https://vivaldi.com/ru/blog/user-agent-changes/Ideologists VIVALDI originally used the wrong approach, from a marketing point of view, by limiting the use of native User Agent few, albeit important sites.
More correct to implement a custom setup to install a different User Agent on the websites by the user, without the possibility of global change User Agent, for all sites. -
@kichrot: Would be useful, but a native UA switcher should allow Vivaldi to see where this is need and maybe a button to report "V user agent discriminated" for a quick fix, maybe a dynamic list which don't need to wait for a stable/snapshot update. I think and hope they are experimenting some solution for this.

Remembered the days of Opera browser.js updates to fix userjs websites issues. I welcome the change in the approach. (Nice photo ruari )

I believe that the application of the decision is a step towards the defeat of VIVALDI, and should be revised in favor of the widest possible use of native for VIVALDI User Agent.
-
@kichrot Maybe not. Several users will switch anyway to another browser if a site says to do that or has a partial broken layout. It's a transparency move, and from a marketing/press point should be appreciated.
Of course, I'd love to use Vivaldi UA everywhere, but is not always possible.
Who knows, maybe most good sites will be interested in having a true User Agent or featured in the changelogs if they "play fair" -
:lol: with the <img> choice
-
@kichrot: Can you apply that logic to the inconvenient truth that Brave, which doesn't use a custom string, has higher market share and is better known?
-
@rseiler Winston Churchill wrote about it:
"England had to choose between war and shame.
Her ministers have chosen a shame to then get war. "

After how much time does the notify updater trigger itself? I didn't manually check for updates on purpose, remembering that there were some reports in the past about not getting the notification in the tray, which is what happens here as well so far. Update_notifier.exe is running in the processes, and enabled to (auto)startup in the OS, "notify about updates" also ticked in Settings.
-
@ruario Great, i'm laughing like crazy.
-
I dont see any option to disable it. I would love to set mine as
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) Vivaldi/2.9.1705.41
