Address bar improvements – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1745.22

@hyperboraeer I install the latest Stable version in the usual way, and the Snapshot version using the Standalone option. This keeps my profiles separate. The latest Snapshot is my default, and that contains all of my bookmarks. The Stable version is more or less a default installation and I only launch it to help forum users.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit 1903 build 18362.418 • Snapshot 2.9.1745.22 (64-bit)

@Pesala Can you show me, how it's possible to have both versions installed in your computer.
So you basically have 2 vivaldi logos on your desktop? -
@hyperboraeer Please see the article in help on Standalone Version of Vivaldi

Hello, I am having an issue where one of the Vivaldi processes is pegging one of my cores at 100%
Is there a special debug version I can install that will show you what is causing it?
it is driving me absolutely insane.
restarting the browser or computer doesn't fix it. disabling extensions doesn't fix it.
after open a tab or two after relaunching the browser one of my cores is at 100% and never goes back down.
hibernating different pages or tabs has no effect once it begins.

@TheDragonReborn Shift+Esc will show the Vivaldi Task Manager so that you can identify and close the process that is hogging the CPU.

It's the main browser process.
killing it closes all open tabs...so I need another solution.
-
@TheDragonReborn If you kill the GPU process it will automatically restart. Does that fix it? You could also try disabling hardware acceleration in Settings, Webpages.
I don't know how to debug this. Trial and error sometimes works.
-
@mossman yes, installed latest version.
-
I don't know whether another user has reported this bug: In the last three snapshots the "user name" and "password" fields of some websites are not filled automatically, others are filled automatically as before.
-
@potmeklecbohdan: It's totally pointless speaking truth, fact, opinion on the forum as you have the [moderators] who loves to delete topics which can actually be very worthwhile to Vivaldi as criticism is what helps to improve and bring changes. If Vivaldi can do no wrong type then well stagnation arrives. It's not just Vivaldi all browser forums are the same such as Maxthon no one can criticise or speak any negative at all about their God.
(mod edit: toned down language)

The GPU process is not the one causing the CPU usage.
The main vivaldi process is.
kiling it doesn't fix it since after the browser restarts it's doing it again.
What else can I do to get the information about what it is happening so vivaldi can fix it?

To quote myself:
Pugs are awesome
@uhm How did you get to the idea that I don't like them?
Chihuahuas on the other hand, well, that's an entirely different matter.
-
@uhm I don't remember that any mod would lock/delete a thread w/o a good reason, i. e. the language used would be too impolite or the posts would be nothing but a pointless argument. Just go and try it. If you don't try it, I'll understand it like that you are too cowardly to say your opinion in a separated thread. (Period. If you want me to reply, you must either create a new thread or use the forum chat.)
OK, it's true that I don't remember it also because I usually don't watch these threads as they produce too much text in too short time… but that's another story.
-
@uhm You do not seem to be speaking the truth. Can you name a single topic of yours that was deleted by a moderator? It does sometimes happen, but it is very rare. If it does happen, it is not because it is critical, but because it seriously violates the forum's Code of Conduct.
- This topic was moved because it is not a valid feature request.
- This topic was marked as a duplicate because the same topic already exists.
- This topic was locked because it is just flame-bait.
-
I cannot pin the side panel (i.e. make it always visible). What am I doing wrong? Can anybody help?
-
@nutcracker No problem here (settings → panel → panel options → floating panel →
[ ]
auto-close inactive panel) -
Ah, my precccciousss "old-new" toggle behaviour isss backkk

There is a known issue with Symantec and recent Chrome builds. Vivaldi released the previous stable with a special fix, but this is not included in the snapshots. It is a problem which Symantec needs to correct...
-
Has anyone from vivaldi seen my posts?
What can I do about the main vivaldi process maxing one of my cores.
I even disabled all extensions and closed all tabs and it does not fix it.
Please send me a debug version that will tell you what is going wrong.
-
@TheDragonReborn Developers from Vivaldi do not read here, on the whole.
Other users may have some suggestions for you, and we have some really technically proficient users.
Tell us something about your hardware, and what it is you are doing in the browser when you find the "max out" condition. Further, it would be useful to know whether you are running extensions, and what extensions.
