Couldn't login before now in, but next time I hope***
-
When I cam to Vivaldi, and clicked top right, had two choice I think
a) user 1
b) briturNeither of these logged me in, but was able to go to your web mail site and login. What a relief. I then clicked on a link in my beautiful bookmarks menu, thanks to truly magnificent help yesterday from @Zalex108 which opened up a dialogue box where I could put in user name and password and get logged in.
Hope this makes sense to some of you really smart people! What I would like to do is clean up the system in some smart way so I can always login much more easily.
Could anyone give me any brilliant tips?
Best

Hi,
As said by @Pathduck, at some point you created another user.
So,
Keep using Britur, and if you made some changes on User 1 that you need to recover, Copy/Paste | Apply them to Britur then delete that User 1.For AutoLogin:
Since the Profile folder was restored, maybe it lost the AutoLogin for security reasons, from now on, should keep the Sessions logged you in.
Check at Cookies if necessary.--
Since the restored Profile was back from day 7, find a way to do regular (+/- weekly) backups.
Either manually or with provided tools on previous posts or in V | Backup and Promotion Topic, Restore Point Creator.

@Zalex108 Not working, very poor. Indeed.
Numerous issues, which I take the liberty of listing. Also letting SnapDuck know: @snapduck
A) Cannot import an HTML file created in Opera.
Opera aso saves it as a Vivaldi HTML doc
Snagit screenshot
- Very difficult to login, somehow I fumble into managing it.
In any case why should it be necessary to login to use the functionality in Vivladi. No other browser requires this.

Hello there,
Your topic was moved to the right category. It might be interesting to @gaelle or @jane-n have a look, if they didn't.
Sorry for any inconvenient caused. -
@lamarca Why moved? This was the category I was told to use.
I really hope I can get some definitive answers, possibly from @gaelle or @jane-n
Never had so many intensive problem hours with a browser, the energy is at the moment still high because of my vision that Vivaldi could deliver the goods. Maybe I am a 75 year old fool who should understand it ain't working properly.
The question is could it be working properly???!!! -
@britur It was moved because you are on Windows so it'll be easier to help you in the correct category
For your issues:
-
Afraid I can't help you much as I don't have Opera installed anymore. But the Import dialog has an option called "Opera bookmark file", choose that one instead and point it to your saved HTML file.

You don't need to log in to Vivaldi every time you start it. I belive you were helped by Zalex108 to setup Sync, and it should remember your username and password if you check the box there when you log in. After that it'll work silently in the background... well, apart from when it fails :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:
BTW it ain't snapduck either

@Pathduck Sorry about mixing up the names.
Have just tried your suggestion, but does not work when I choose Opera Bookmarks, and the other two Opera bookmark formats, lead to errors.
Regarding "sync" I am terried about what it does, and that was the original caause of all problems I thinbk, so I would just like to focus at this stage on being able to EASILY login. Don'twant a host of synching problems.
It must be possible to have a stable working login on one computer. No need to synch I hope.
Al the best
Brian -
@britur You don't need to log in to Vivaldi. Sync is completely optional, if you don't want to use it for backup that's fine.
Are you saying you need to log in to these forums on vivaldi.net on every start? If you select the "Remember me" checkbox when logging in, you will stay logged in even after restart.
Please explain in steps what you do after starting Vivaldi, so we can try to understand where you try to log in.
-
@Pathduck Not clear to me what is being synched.
Is synch necessary for automatic backup? When I press the Vivaldi icon on the toolbar, I woud ike to be logged in, and stay logged in. Sometimes I am logged in, and then after some actvitiy I see I am no longer logged in.
Mystery for me. Sorry about this @Pathduck
Very best

Sorry, I was being a bit slow, you are talking about logging in to the Vivaldi.net forums I think?
Make sure the "Remember me" checkbox is set, and it should keep you logged in for "ever".
-
@Pathduck Brilliant, thank you. Are there separate logins for diffreren parts of Vivladi?
I would prefer one login for everyhing.
Too much to ask or hope for!
Very best! -
@britur
Single Sign On (SSO) for Vivaldi websites (Forum, Blogs, Webmail) is in the pipeline. Login to the browser (Sync) most likely won't be included in SSO, though. But Sync has its own 'Save Password' option, which will keep you logged in.Also, Sync is a feature for accessing your browser data on multiple devices. It should not be relied on as a backup service. So, make sure you always have the data available locally on at least one device.
In case the data is stored only on our servers and should you, for example, forget the encryption password, your bookmarks, password, notes, etc. will all be gone, without an option restore the data. -

Hi,
Have you installed:
Opera 12?
Or
New Opera? To Import a HTML Bookmarks file, you have to choose HTML file, instead the browser from it came.
To Import directly from the Browser, it has to be closed and you have to provide right path if differs the default one.

About Sync,
the problem was about to run another profile, you can run many profiles despite the Sync activation. - Very difficult to login, somehow I fumble into managing it.

Topic resolved.
Please, any issue not SSO related, start a new topic.
Thanks
