Not save passwords found after upgrade to Vivaldi.2.9.1705.34 or Vivaldi.2.9.1705.38
-
When I upgraded to Vivaldi.2.9.1705.34.x64 or Vivaldi.2.9.1705.38.x64, I lost my all saved password even I synced my account successfully.
I uninstalled those two versions and installed version Vivaldi.2.8.1664.44.x64, and my saved password come back.
Do any other guys meet the same issue? -
@Gwen-Dragon Thanks! I'd like to try. But what's the location of 'login files'?

@linunix
Hi, Path is published in File > Help > About.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin looks above solution is not working for me. not sure if it's related to encrypted sync data.
I tried on another new vivaldi installation Windows and synced password from remote successfully.
So I think I might need to purge Vivaldi completely on my laptop.
Do you have any guidance to purge Vivaldi ?
I could try it when I have time since now it's my working time and I need to reconfigure my extensions with enough idle time. -
hi Guys
I tried to export saved passwords from current version and import to new version after upgrade.
It works.
However, I notice it's not only a losing saved passwords issue, but also it would not prompts to save new credentials.I could only keep staying version 2.8.1664.44

@linunix hi Gwen
No android device, I am using iOS. I had tried this solution you mentioned but looks it's not working. So I could only continue using 2.8 version. -
@linunix hi this user and myself fixed it by backing up app data (just incase) while in 2.8 then deleting the login data file to be found in screenshot and updating to 2.9 i immediately got full password functionality back (but make sure your sync'd)

@christiehmalry
Through the operation of backup took dozens of minutes, this one works for me!
Thanks!
Hope Vivaldi team could fix it in next version. They are a great team. -
I too want to report issue with saved passwords on any 2.9.XXX.XX. For many days now I have been troubleshooting the issue as well as my custom thumbnails disappearing at every uninstall and reinstall of Vivaldi. I am now using 2.8.1664.44 but some extensions are reporting an unsafe Chrome channel. Will try the deleting of Login Data and Login Data-journal.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yes. I have reported it as a bug last week.
-
@rcarter515 Followed instructions above and deleted the Login Data and Login Data-journal after uninstalling my 2.8 version followed by installing the latest 2.9 and my passwords work.
Just wish all preferences stayed after upgrade. I've had to edit my Speed Dial setting of removing the delete function from the thumbnail almost every reinstall.
