Vivaldi no longer stores passwords
-
With the update to Vivaldi 2.9, all my stored passwords were deleted. Additionally, Vivaldi does no longer store my passwords. When I enter my login credentials there is no popup or button to store my password.
My version: 2.9.1705.41 with the latest windows 10

@Gwen-Dragon Thanks for your reply. I created a new default profile for testing purpose and there, the safe password system worked (although the save password popup was outside the screen, see image). After that, I copied some basic settings, bookmarks etc from my backup to the new default and the password system stopped working again. When I open the stored password file I can see that there are entries stored. Unfortunate, the passwords are still not visible in the privacy tab of the settings.

@Gwen-Dragon thanks for the link. I've been wondering (new to Vivaldi) about how to manage stored passwords and stumbled across this.

Can you see passwords if you open internal page chrome://settings/passwords
Nope, the page is empty. On your idea about restoring the passwords, I also do not get prompted to store or update a password. Your idea seems to be only a fix that passwords are not visible but how about that popup that is not showing up?

@Vincent500 Your symptom sounds like one of a corrupted Login Data file. I had a similar problem once, and deleting that file cured it. (Replaced on re-start)
Deleting, moving or re-naming the file means you have no stored passwords, but if you have sync enabled, it should replace them.

Thanks for the reply. I deleted the file and it seems to start working again but I have to re-enter all the login credentials because passwords are the only thing I don't sync.
If you don't hear from me anymore in the coming days, the issue stayed solved.

@Vincent500 OK. Thanks for the feedback.

@ankor @Vincent500 Anyone had tested my workaround!??

You may try as a rescue (untested idea):
Just did and it works. I already re-entered the most manually but this also loaded the others back.
Thanks for your help.

As my passwords were synced, all it took for me was deleting the login data file.
Once it synced all my passwords came back. -
