Crash fixes and a security bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1719.3

One minor annoyance I've noticed in the past few snapshots is that when opening a new private window, the addressbar isn't focused. If I open a new window, the cursor is in the addressbar. But not for a private window.
Linux Mint 19.2 x64

@ugly Hmm. I just tried it. It is, here. Let me fire up a Linux box and see what it does there. I will have to update, because it's been off for over a month.
-
@ugly OK - Linux Mint Cinnamon 19. Private window opens with cursor blinking in address bar.
(caveat) That copy of Mint won't update because of some hardware/driver problem. When I open it, it always opens crashed, and I have to run it in fallback mode. Haven't had time to debug it.{Update) I got my entire Linux Mint 19.1 updated and running properly, and private window still opens with cursor blinking in the address bar.

@stevekong: But within a matter of hours: 78.0.3904.97.

Will the feature to sort bookmarks by name be fixed? thank you.

What's wrong with it?

Thanks for 2.9!
Ready for Mail now :> -
"Where is my focus?"
- Focus the address bar
- Hit "cursor down", the visited link history will popup
- Navigate the history using "cursor down" or "cursor up"
- Hit "enter" to open the web page
- Use cursor keys or page up/page down to scroll the web page
Now, on several web pages nothing happens, including slashdot.org or arstechnica.com. Maybe it's script related, since www.heise.de/newsticker/classic/ is OK, while www.heise.de/tp/ is not.

Clone tab mouse gesture or keyboard shortcut does not work for me as of this version. Is it a bug or I'm doing something wrong?
-
@nutcracker The shortcut is now Clone selected tabs this is a new feature,
so I guess it breaks your shortcut for clone tab unless you first select it. Looks like a bug to me.Nope! It still works for the current active tab, selected or not.

@rseiler: working on it
-
@pesala: Alt+C and, also, the relative mouse gesture are not working for me. They are both functioning, as you wrote, only if I select tabs and only if the selected tabs are more than one (otherwise there is no selection). So, in order to clone multiple tabs I first select them and then apply the keyboard shortcut or the mouse gesture. I have not find a way to do the simple thing of cloning the current tab I'm in. Either it's a bug, or this is the new behavior. In any case I was forced to add a new extension, to clone the current tab via context menu. Of course there is always the possibility to go to the tab header and clone it. So I do not understand how you managed to clone the CURRENT tab by mouse gesture or keyboard shortcut.
One more thing: I find cloning selected tabs a little too much, while cloning the current tab an absolutely necessary feature.

@nutcracker In Settings, Tabs, Tab Features, enable Include Active Tab in Selection. That should fix your shortcut.
-
@ruario: Still, it's interesting when that number changes
-
@pesala: Thanks a lot!!! That's it! My whole previous comment is wrong, it was a matter of a setting! Thanks again!

@mossman A/V are just man, never regretted ditching them 4 years ago, they cause more problems than solve, as it was proven again
Yes and no.
I used no AV for a long time... back when I was a geeky student and in full control of my system. That was because my experience with Norton and McAfee on other PCs was that they were incredible resource hogs (and you had to pay for them) and "I would never get a virus anyway".
Then when AVG came along in the 90s I installed it and would run it periodically - and it did turn up some hidden nasties (in e.g. shared Flash games). So it was natural to enable it when I moved in with my wife.
But then I managed to get a couple of really nasty viruses which completely bypassed AVG (one was ransomware which I was able to recover from but required reinstallation of Windows afterwards as the infection had gone so deep). And meanwhile AVG had got progressively more bloated and annoying and "support" for all the issues users were having was some call-centre types who didn't really have a clue)...
Now I'm using Immunet which is free, lightweight and (IMO) reasonably trustworthy (now part of Cisco). No issues so far except for dropping XP support on my older machines.
The long and the short of it: I think it's prudent to have some kind of AV (especially on shared machines) since even I have suffered attacks despite doing my best to keep things safe and clean. However I agree that most of them return too many false positives and are generally useless resource-hogs (McAfee on my work PC often spends a couple of days heating up my desk area with 80% disk and 20% CPU use - really wish I could junk that rubbish!).

Okay, thanks for testing. I looked into it a bit more. It seems to be an issue with the private window intro. I unchecked the box for the private window intro and it opens directly to the speed dial with the cursor in the addressbar.
-
@ugly On Windows, if you tick the "don't show this again" box then it focuses the address bar every time. Try it.
-
Does it still have the bug when autocomplete in the address field takes ages?

Yay, VB-57575 had been a PITA for a while now, so happy it was addressed
