Hello I'm a long time user of the old Opera on Windows XP. Just discovered Vivaldi and want to give my input. I'd like to see this carry on where Opera 12 finished off! 1) I like to navigate my bookmarks from the drop down list in the file menu but this is not present in Vivaldi. The only options are displaying the bookmarks bar or the bookmarks panel. Neither of these appeal to me. 2) Opera has much better layout customisation through "Tools / Appearance..." with the option to display a number of different toolbars and then incorporate different panels, buttons and spacers however one desires. Most of this customisation is currently missing. Text below buttons and all that sort of thing, etc. One thing I'd like to do in particular is have the option of placing the address bar above the tabs bar because this is what I'm used to. 3) When you add a new search engine and name it the same as one of the original search engines Vivaldi crashes. Example. if you delete Wikipedia which already exists by default and then create a new search named Wikipedia. 4) Can't seem to rename the speed dials or adjust the size and layout, ie. 4 rows, 2 columns or 3 rows, 3 columns, etc. 5) It would be good if you can rearrange the order of your search engines in the settings menu. All I can think of for the time being. Still have to play with it and read the forums some more.

At this very raw stage, don't be surprised for it to take a while for Vivaldi to catch up to many of the features in olde Opera, some of which were the product of 20 years or so in development.
As to renaming speed dials, it's really easy but not terribly intuitive. You can edit their labels in the side bar or in the bookmark manager (available from the speed dial screen) OR, you can simply click once on the label itself in speed dial, notice that it turns blue, and start typing whatever you want it to be!! Like olde Opera, most functions have multiple directions from which to approach them.

Re: cusomization.
If you know anything about CSS, you can probably achieve what you've described by editing the file located here: %localappdata%\Vivaldi\Application\1.0.151.7\resources\vivaldi\style\common.css
Or, if you'd prefer not to directly edit Vivaldi files, you can create a custom.css as detailed in the post by An_dz here.
Rather than having to adjust the font-size for every element you can add this global at the common.css file:
*{ font-size:12px !important }
Also it's much better to add this at the beginning of common.css and creating a custom.css with all your edits:
@import "custom.css";
This way when a new version installs you can just copy your custom.css from the old folder to the new and just add this line again to common.css. This way it's safer to keep the changes in common.css on the new version.
Additionally, here's a thread about an existing Vivaldi skin which achieves its customization by doing exactly what An_dz said above.

matchstickman - Welcome!
Besides the tips and suggestions that and tips Ayespy and Tiamarth offered, I would suggest that you check out the Vivaldi Development Team's aims - https://vivaldi.com/#Home. This will give you some idea of Vivaldi's background and what they hope to accomplish.
Also, I hope you become an active member of the Vivaldi Community and share your own experiences, problems and suggestions for improvements. It is our reports on actual usage of the browser that will insure that Vivaldi continues to improve.

@matchstickman: Your first post, so welcome!
As far as I can see, you didn't mention what Vivaldi version your feedback is based on, but many newcomers are using Technical Preview 2 because it is still the version offered on the Vivaldi - A new browser for our friends page.
If you're using Technical Preview 2, try updating to the most recent Developer snapshot.
Vivaldi is developing rapidly and there have been numerous bug fixes and feature improvements in the 8 Developer snapshots since Technical Preview 2 (v.1.0.118.19). Developer snapshots since then have generally been as stable, if not more stable, than TP2.
Follow the Team Blog for weekly updates (usually on Mondays) and occasional mid-week updates.

Good tip Ayespy! Surely I should have figured that out for myself :silly: I just tried right clicking on the thumbnail like in Opera and there was no rename option. But they should probably add that in there anyway.

Yes, you're right gdveggie. I'm using the old version. Didn't know about the other one so I'll download that now, thanks.
I noticed there are other topics regarding suggestions and issues. I probably should have posted this stuff there instead of making a new topic.
