I've been a big fan of Maxthon browser for over 5 years. It's mouse gestures, start page with links and folders (containing links) among other things was unbeatable. But periodically, I would check and compare other browsers and about 2 weeks ago I was amazed....with Vivaldi, the new greatest browser.
Mouse gestures are amazing and powerful, the Start Page fantastic and Notes is so convenient. Overall, this is so polished and elegant. This is such a pleasure to use.
But I can't go without suggestions...
-
include Paste & Go in context menu of the New Tab (+) btn
-
when clicking on a folder on the Bookmark Bar, have the option to show "Add Active Tab" at the top of the list instead of bottom
-
when adding an active tab (using "Add Active Tab" from context menu) to a folder on the Bookmark Bar, keep the folder visible to allow further editing, relocation & verification of the desired position of the new item in the list. It's a hassle to reiterate thru the Bookmarks Bar over and over again.
-
add a new "Close All Tabs" command (to use with Mouse Gestures)
Thank you for all the great work.

@ankor Welcome to the forums and enjoy Vivaldi Browser and also Vivaldi for Android.
Notes, mouse gestures, single keys shortcuts.

- Vote for Middle-click on Tab Bar to Open Tab with URL or search text. Why only on the small target of the [+] button?
- Vote for Move Add Active Tab Back to the Top of the Menus
- Probably a new request
- See Add "Close All Tabs" to Tab Submenu. A command would be more useful. Right-click is slow.

Hi @ankor welcome.
@Pesala @ankor What's the use of "close all tabs" when you have "close other tabs" which you can bind to a keyboard shortcut (I use Ctrl+Shift+W), if you 'd close all tabs you still would have the current tab, just not Start Page, which is a very minor annoyance in my opinion to justify a whole new entry in the tab menu.
/added: you can drag & drop the url on the + (new tab) button.

Welcome to the community. Sure you will enjoy, both with the browser, as well as in this forum.
What you present are interesting suggestions, but I at least, despite using Vivaldi from the beginning, I still discover new things in this browser.
The amount of possibilities and functions it has, is light years from any other browser -

There was a survey on the Vivaldi page opened after updating now. I clicked through the questions, and one was about how you
find closed tabs. I didn't actually know about the "Closed Tabs" section under the Window panel. I feel kinda stupid, since I could have used it so many times. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat: But just another way Vivaldi rocks! -
@tjukken There was a survey?
I've never seen a survey - could you win anything for participating?
Do you have the URL in history still?I thought they'd avoid doing surveys because scammers have used fake "Vivaldi" surveys in the past to trick users into giving away information.
-
Just a few questions about how you use Vivaldi. And this is the standard page that opens after a major update (as in the whole 57 MB or so) with info about new features and bugfixes. So I think it's highly unlikely to be fake. I did get thanks at the end.

@lamarca Thank you for friendly welcome and for the heads up on the sub-forum. Didn't notice it.
-
@Pesala Very helpful. I will be looking into them. Thanks.

@npro Sometimes you just want to start fresh while lots of tabs exist. In Maxthon, I used a single mouse gesture to remove them all while the browser does not auto-close. Not used all the time, but very handy when the situation arises and it's a "simple" implementation in existing infrastructure. Thanks for the feedback.
-
@Catweazle Thanks for the welcome. I was beginning to wonder if something would impress me beyond what I enjoyed with Maxthon. It took a long time but Vivaldi finally caught up and surpassed it. It's quite an elegant implementation of features.
The Side Panel is another part I began using almost immediately. Maxthon had notes but this is far more inviting.

@tjukken I've been referring to the "Closed Tabs" list as well. Very convenient. But Maxthon introduced me to mouse gestures and found them to be very powerful, so fast...and a key requirement for considering another browser.
So I was glad to see the long list of commands available to mouse gestures in Vivaldi and immediately set them up. I use UP-LEFT to restore the last closed tab among others. Don't know about the survey but thanks for the reply.

@Pesala I would expect from a regular and old-timer like @Pathduck to not have forgotten it, it's a year not 5 years , so this leads me to believe that he probably missed it...
Don't think I ever took that survey ... then again I am getting to be an old-timer and forgetful sometimes :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:
