BUG: Text color is stuck in black or white for background tabs...
-
The text color is stuck in black or white for background tabs, and doesn't match our theme settings...
To fix this, please add an option to customize the text color of background tabs. Also add an option to fade them, to help the active tab visually stand out...

I've Always had issues with clearly identifying the active tab in Vivaldi.
The solution could also be to highlight the active tab.If you want a quick and dirty solution, assuming your platform is windows, open \AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application\2.2.1388.34\resources\vivaldi\style\common.css
Search for this string: "#browser .tab-position .tab.active" and modify the colors to your liking.
For a nice golden highlight you may use the same class as I use:#browser .tab-position .tab.active { background-color: rgba(255, 201, 14, 1.0); color: rgba(32, 32, 32, 1.0); fill: rgba(255, 201, 14, 1.0); font-weight: bold; }

unfortunately, modding the theme is a hassle if you frequently update vivaldi, since such tweaks are lost after every update.

@TsunamiZ This is not true anymore for .css mods, Vivaldi supports them already natively without any interaction from the user each update.
in vivaldi://experiments/ enable CSS modifications
in vivaldi://settings/appearance/ set a path where you put your .css files (for example I have it set to "C:\Program Files\Vivaldi\css" so it's outside the Application path which changes each release) and never worry about them anymore.Only .js mods still have to be manually ported over each time one updates Vivaldi, but in the modifications forum there are pinned threads with easy solutions for all the 3 desktop platforms supported.

Hi, Unfortunately the developers have decided to mark this request as "Will not do", which means this request won't be implemented in Vivaldi.
For those that do want it, this may be doable with a modification.
