Snapshot fix for DRM'd content on macOS — Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1692.4
-
Thanks a lot for the alt-key menu fix
And I can't see a mention of VB-54948 in the list, but it looks like it's been fixed. Icons now show up properly for custom searches:
So far looks good for me - only minor thing I had to change in my CSS mod was to add
object-position: center
to.thumbnail-image img
because for some reason you addedobject-position: top
to common.css. Minor grumble though: Why can't they just add a simpleobject-fit: contain
to the same element? Do we really have to make a report for it? -

On my Win 10-64 machine, this snapshot will not run unless I use Windows 8 compatibility mode. I've no idea why, but it's strange. All earlier versions have run normally. -
This bug should be fixed.

Interesting build this one with lots of stuff (including the menu without the white border). Nice.

@ilprof: I have the same issue on Linux Mint 19.2
Vivaldi will open to my Speed Dial. I load one webpage and the browser appears frozen. Can't click anywhere (although I didn't try any keyboard input). I had to close Vivaldi using the panel in Cinnamon.
Reverted back to 2.9.1675.11 and everything is fine again.

Not trying to sound like a broken record, but it is saddening that the devtools/JS breakpoint issues are being neglected for so long. Also refreshing a page (either F5 or CTRL+F5) with Devtools open can lead to some seriously inconsistent and annoying behaviour.
I get that you prioritise core functionality and stomping down on regressions, but it would be awesome to see some attention to people who use the browser in a non-casual sense.. Pretty please!
Vivaldi: 2.9.1692.4 (Official Build) (64-bit)

OS: Windows 10 OS Version 1903 (Build 18362.418)Thank you.

Weird. Works fine for me on Linux Mint 18.3 (KDE) !?
Hmmm, new chromium engine - could it be extensions breaking? -
@gwen-dragon: I tried to reinstall new version after deleting 4 files and install.
But the result was the same.
After install, Vivaldi is not activated and no Vivaldi is not on the task manager, but I can not run it (no response).
But after go back to 1675.11 (reinstall) and everything OK. -
I can't download DRM content on Linux Mint :c
-
On my Win10x64 Core-i5 snapshot is unresponsive and using CPU for about 5 minutes after start. In Vivaldi's Task Manager "Browser" and "App: Vivaldi" tasks with ~50-150 CPU values during that.
-
@tbgbe: I've tried with vivaldi --disable-extensions, but no changes
-
Just set the dark theme flag and bricked the browser, got a black screen then when i opened a new window a white screen, went back to stable before the flag existed and cleared my sync data but afraid to reinstall the snapshot in case it screws up again. can anyone give me odds or tell me where flag condition data is stored locally?
-
@ian-coog: Ooh, yes, this is a different bug, made a bug on it a little while back. Hopefully can get fixed soon.
-
@starpaw: We've attempted to fix the issue / investigated it, but have no solution to it yet. I'll poke around a bit and see if I can get some extra eyes on it.
-
@temkem Looking at it in the inspector, it is called "wifi configurations". Maybe this got included with the sync part of the engine update, but vivaldi has yet to make use of it.
-
@mpc46: I assume you already issued the workaround listed in the know issues above, i.e.
sudo chmod -R +r /var/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/WidevineCdm
If you did and you are still having problems, could you issue the following command and let me know what it prints back in the terminal
sudo dash -eux /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/update-widevine --system

@christiehmalry took a risk the flag was unset but as a heads up, i got away with the ''invert everything but images'' dark theme flag but if you just set it to ''enable'' it glitches out and you'll need to reinstall (windows 10, 64 bit, ryzen 2700x, gtx 1070ti )

It is said that various performance improvements are done. However I noticed worse performance after latest stable and snapshot versions. Every click in UI has bigger delay than before, speed dial page is opening slowly, picture is painting in half. Animations are struggling now with just 3 tabs opened, before it was struggling when 5 and more tabs opened. I guess it is something with Chromium, because I noticed slower opening start page also on Edge Canary, few builds ago.

sorry but where is that "invert everything but images" setting you're talking about?
