How to remove / change the limit of downloads?
-
Hey guys! Can you tell me how to change the limit of parallel downloads? Thank you!
Hallo Leute! Wisst ihr wie man das Limit für parallele Downloads ändert? Danke!
-
@SenseiFritz What do you want to see rather than the existing behavior?
-
@kahukura What i described.... sometimes i would like to download more than three files parallel. I think three is the limit.... or five? I don't know now exactly. But i don't wanna have a limit.
-
-
Thank you too for your answer, but I can't imagine that. It got better over the years. I used to be able to download indefinitely in parallel, now I can't.
Please use English in this forum, or post in the German forum. It will be easier for others to follow and help.
I was able to download seven files simultaneously. If there is any limit I could not reach it.

Can you describe exactly what you're doing and how you are being limited? I think this might be an XY Problem, so explaining exactly what it is you are trying to do and what is preventing you from doing it will clarify your problem.
As far as I know, the browser has no limit on the number of files that can be downloaded concurrently. I think the question you might be trying to ask is how do you change the limit of concurrent connections per domain; if so, the answer is you can't.
But this is why you should explain what it is you are actually trying to do, and specifically why you can't. All of us trying to guess at your real problem is a bunch of time spent discussing irrelevant information.

If it is not caused by a limited bandwide, the reason can only be found in external influences by Windows, AV, etc., which can slow down the downloads of multiple files. I have once experienced a similar problem in downloads, but this happened at a time when Windows was also on the network to prepare an update.

vivaldi://flags/#enable-parallel-downloading
"Parallel downloading mostly means that Google Chrome can create multiple connections to download a single file in fragments."

That's what you mean?

@Gwen-Dragon
If I'm not wrong it's like a Torrent, downloading from various sites but to gain speed.
Downdload accelerators uses that, at least some few I know.

@Zalex108 How does that help to speedup? I do not understand this.
some sites limit the output per connection, let's say 80kb/s, but if one is lucky enough, downloading from the same site with multiple connections, let's say 4 connections on the same file, you get 80x4=320k/s
Download managers like Flashget, netvampire, jdownloader, do this since the 56k modems era. It's totally normal. -
Ok,
You mean connected to the same source, I thought it was about different ones. -
@Pesala Sorry for that, but he wrote in german so i anserwed him in german too.
I'm sorry for my bad english, i don't know how to describe it better. I am not talking about increasing speed or something like this. Do you know "JDownloader" for example? It's a download manager. When i use JD i can download as much files as i want at the same time. With Vivaldi (i do not use JD always) i often have to wait until i can download the next file.
I try to give you an example: the free trials of Akvis filters (for photography): https://akvis.com/en/download.php#win
A lot downloads with many hundred MBs. When i download them with Vivaldi i can start 3 downloads then i have to wait until at least one of them is finished. Then i can start the next one. I hope this time my explanation was better. -
I think we have understood the problem, the only thing that occurs to me is that it is due to the page itself. There are still pages that because of a bad or outdated browser sniffing, put obstacles to Vivaldi. You can check it, trying to make the downloads using a UA switcher (in the store), to disguise Vivaldi as Chrome or Firefox.Well, also ask the technical support of the page, if the reason is due to this

Unfortunately, the user agent is not the only way to determine the browser one is using. While a UA switcher can work quite a lot of the time, it is not foolproof.

Unless its changed since I last looked, and the Chromium guys were pretty adamant about not changing it, the limit is 6.

It's true, I've tried almost every UA switcher in the store, and the only one that has convinced me, is the one I use actually.

Result in Panpticlick with Vivaldi in Win 10

I use this same user agent switcher. It can be useful for enabling access to services that require a specific browser and don't work with Vivaldi, but it shouldn't be considered as a privacy tool to prevent disclosure of the true UA. If you have spoofed it to be something like IE10 or older, and they see things like Chromium and Chrome in the plugins list, or see WebGL support, they know you are spoofing and can determine the UA with other methods.
Give this test a try... set your UA with that extension... then click this link: https://amiunique.org/fp
As you can see, the extension isn't hiding your user agent from people who check it using javascript... even this isn't a complete test of the various fingerprinting and system detection methods.

Done, with Vivaldi, Win10 and UA Switcher and Manager
