The first of many – Vivaldi Android Browser snapshot 1624.207
-
Hi,
when I search in play store for "Vivaldi Browser Snapshot" it shows all kinds of other browsers, but not the snapshot. Not sure if you can change anything here, it is most lily a play store issue.
Perhaps you can try to add some keywords.The direct link from the blog works now (after the known "not in your country" issue). (My country is Germany).
Thanks for Vivaldi, Dieter

I had the same thing. It's kind of strange that you can type in exactly the name of the software and it doesn't come up at all! I scrolled through the first page of totally irrelevant results then just used the forum link instead. (The link to the APK I mean... Play wasn't letting me install it at the time.)

This is a great day for Vivaldi community and mobile surfing experience in general. No doubt about that for me. However, as a spoiled Vivaldi user I would like to take a few minutes and write down all the biggest negatives about the beta.
-
First of all I was unable to set default behaviour for showing the version of Web pages for PC or callled Web for computers - Vivaldi icon - then tick the mark. It is incredibly frustrating to do it for all pages. Opera has an option called User agent where you can set the prefered web setting: for mobile/tablet devices or PC. This way you have all pages automatically loaded as full versions not mobile. This is something absolutelly crucial for me and I guess for many other users....
-
Tab bar should be more like PC version not showing only one active window - multiple tabs like on tablet so you can move themm from left to the right - some sort of interface options: tablet, mobile, PC
-
Speed dial need some reworking because the icons on tiles have pretty low res and when you combine it with very screen consuming speed dial front page - unable to set any dimensions or number of tiles used on sigle page.
-
Ability to create search engines
-
Vivaldi icon with setting should be adjustable to the left or to the right or hidden
-
More gestures besides just reloading the page
-
Tab grouping or open pages grouping - already requested in forums
Thanks many times again for this special day and your hard work. I can't wait for the future releases!

@newscpq I think it's proper behavior, the folders name is not binding and you can change it as you see fit or remove the folder completely if you don't need it, in your case using the English names on one device and the Italian names on the other device, Sync, rightly, interprets them as different folders and then creates them double.
-
No matter what country you may find it easier to find both versions of the browser with appbrain (a better front-end for the play store)

sync doesn't work...
I'm connected but stuck on the "sync initialization" forever -
@remi-flores I had sync problems on my Windows machine earlier today but it has since been resolved. Maybe your sync is also working now?
-
@mib2berlin: I can confirm that Notes duplication is still a problem. Every time I open the Vivaldi Android Browser, I see tons of duplicate notes reappear. I am on the latest snapshots on desktop and Android (mobile).
-
@gidbest
Hm, I got duplicates on desktop if I enable notes sync on Android therefor I disable sync for notes on Android after sync once.
No idea about release cycle of android but tile says "Many" so I hope it get fixed sooner or later. I can copy/past my desktop cache to mobile so not a biggie for me.
@Mods, should we report again to bug tracker?Cheers, mib

Did you actually follow the instructions to quit sync on all devices and clear sync data on the last one before logging them all on again?
They did say that's what you had to do - not just update Vivaldi and carry on.
I haven't tested it myself yet since I still have two beta versions for Android installed.

Yes I do, even reset Vivaldi for Android to make sure no other setting messed up from me.
Cheers, mib

@ruario
This snapshot is myltiplying notes faster than before...=> quit & launch again
It's like opening zip bomb...
-
@mib2berlin Same here.
(I have logged out from everywhere, reset all sync data, uninstalled Vivaldi Android Beta, installed Vivaldi Android Snapshot, sync'ed desktop, sync'ed mobile.) -
After exceeding 20000 notes today I had to disable sync in my Vivaldi Mobile because I don't want to commit suicide while trying to clean up this mess...
-
@ROTFL I did the same, I seriously had enough.
-
@npro hmm...
Think I will wait for a while before I try to clean up sync data then. No point wasting an afternoon cleaning and re syncing everywhere if you guys are still seeing the duplication.
I have to say that I find it quite surprising that the team still don't have a handle on what should be quite a fundamental design aspect of the system after more than a year of this! I've already had to stage big interventions on multiplying notes or bookmarks for myself or my wife on several occasions...
-
@ROTFL But I take it you just disabled sync for notes? The rest seems to work fine.
-
@luetage Yup.
What's also funny - I cannot delete note separators (I guess they are separators because they are read-only items without text) on my mobileRemoving over 20000 duplicates is probably how I plan to spent some winter evenings...
-
Nice one! I do not expected Vivaldi Mobile Snapshot until you reach "1.0" on mobile.
The current Stable version is in a Beta status, which is used to be Snapshot's too. So I suppose that both Vivaldi Mobile flavours will be the same app until you reach the final status for Stable, don't I?
-
@airdex They are not the same app. New features and fixes are tried out in Snapshot before being ported to Beta.
