single click to open bookmarks directory
-
as the title - i have found the setting to open a bookmarks item with a single click but cannot find similar for a dir
most annoying as i keep double clicking sites so open them twice
so have i messed something or is there a mod
-
@adacom Single-click on the triangle icon opens them and closes them.
See Remove the Expand Collapse Folder Triangles
Or are you talking about opening all of the bookmarks in a folder?

ahhh - thanks - i had hidden the triangle icon as i saw no purpose in it other than taking up space - i still think it does that
is there anyway to add a single click function to the dir name - i would prefer not to have the triangle icon but may have to rethink
-
to anybody reading i have a plan or a thought but i cannot get it to work
my thought is to remove the folder icon and redefine the triangle.chevron with the folder icon svg - sort out margins and it should look better but i am struggling
i can remove the triangle with
/* remove chevron */ .vivaldi-tree .tree-row .expand-icon { display: none !important; }
but as been pointed out that removes the single click to open folders
but i cannot remove the folder icon without removing the triangle - if i use the code below which seems to be for the folder svg i also lose the triangle icon
.vivaldi-tree .tree-row svg { display: none; fill: var(--colorFgAlpha); stroke: var(--colorFgFaded); }
i suspect the above does not actually delete the triangle icon but hides it as the dir icon space is filled - may be wrong on that - if i am correct i would think a padding or margin setting would move things to reveal the triangle icon but i cannot get that to work
so any thoughts or ideas to stop me losing what hair i have left
another way of doing it which is proving more successful
.vivaldi-tree .tree-row .expand-icon { margin-right: -20px !important; z-index: 1 !important; } .vivaldi-tree .tree-row .close svg, .vivaldi-tree .tree-row .mail-status-indicator svg, .vivaldi-tree .tree-row .expand-icon svg { fill: transparent; }
that moves the triangle over the folder icon so clicking on the folder icon once opens or closes the folder - its not graphically correct as the triangle is displayed when the folder is open - working on that but anyone feel free to jump in

@adacom You are looking for
.folder-icon
class of thesvg
. But what would you say about this? Just don't hide the expand icon… But I think that breaks in-line renaming..panel.panel-bookmarks .vivaldi-tree .tree-row.folder .expand-icon { width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute; margin: 0 !important; } .panel.panel-bookmarks .vivaldi-tree .tree-row.folder .expand-icon > svg { display: none; }
-
@potmeklecbohdan That works fine. Inline editing of folder names is not needed (F2 is good enough). Inline editing of bookmarks is not broken. The only problem is that bookmark items are indented a bit too much.
-
@Pesala That would be again dirty code that works only until you have too many levels of bookmarks. Something like this (to move the folders back to the right):
.panel-bookmarks .vivaldi-tree .tree-row.folder .expand-icon[style*="margin-left: 0px"] + svg { margin-left: 0px !important; }
…and add 16px to both
0px
for every new level. I didn't test it now, because I'm quite busy and have a lot of papers between me and the keyboard… -

what would i say about that - its brilliant - far easier than my work in progress and the full line opens the folder not just the folder icon as i was doing
need to sit back and look at the code - yes i know theres not much but i do try to understand why something works
losing inline renaming is a plus for me - i never used it and clicking on it by accident was just a mistake to be got rid of
thanks
