The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup gets started this week.
Any predictions?
Me? I'm partial to the ladies of the USA.
Group D seems to be the dreaded "group of death."
Lots of really good squads are invading France.
I wish each and every country nothing but the best.edit: Added the "Stars and Bars". And the host "Le bleu, blanc, rouge".
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yeah..Germany is as always super strong. Your homeland's squad could very easily take the cup. Germany is one country/team that frightens me. Germany seems to put together one damn good team.
-
I gotta cheer for the Canadian ladies !!
-
@greybeard Canada is another team that has me worried.
I'm still supporting and cheering for my beloved USA. -
@Para-Noid And the american and Canadian girls have always had quite a rivalry. Should be excellent games!
Best of luck to all competitors. -
@greybeard Agreed. This could be a wild and bumpy ride. This is gonna get real good! Real fast!
-
@MoonDawg Sverige Γ€r alltid stark.
Thank you Google Translate! or Tack Google Translate! -
Somehow seems to have qualified. As far as scottish teams are concerned, that's a win right there. Any further progress is just a bonus.
-
@MoonDawg They just didn't win the group. Sweden was in the round of 16 already. Sweden was not knocked out of the tournament.
-
The Netherlands beat Italy, England beat Norway, and Sweden beat Germany. So a good mix of nations in the semi-finals, and not just the top ranked teams.
- England take on USA in the first semi on Tuesday
- Netherlands take on Sweden in the second semi on Wednesday
-
@Pesala None of the four semi-finalists have a walk in the park. All four have excellent squads. I am definitely cheering for my beloved USA but England is so damn good. Netherlands and Sweden are both up to the task.
-
@Para-Noid The first semi-final went according to form. Today, England will try to salvage a bronze medal against Sweden.
Tomorrow, the USA should beat the Netherlands in the final, but you never know with football. There is a significant element of chance in the game.

Final:
at 45 minutes, still no score. -
Final:
at 61 minutes, USA 1, Netherlands 0 -
