Help us reproduce your issue

To be able to fix a bug you’ve found in Vivaldi, we first need to reproduce it. Here’s how you can help us get to the bottom of what’s, erm, bugging you.

For media bugs don't forget to provide the full address of the page where the bug occurred.
A lifetime is not long enough to search through "hundred of years worth of content per day" of youtube, twitch, vimeo, etc to find that special media that does not work.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feGKcVUjj0s <- Exanple of a good address.
- http://www.youtube.com <- Example of a bad address (unless it is ta bug on the homepage itself)
Additionally, if the site allows for different resolutions (mostly you have to click on th cogwheel in the video overlay to see it):
- Please include which resolution causes the problem e.g. 1080p 60Hz

I would like to help more at this point, but unfortunately (?) so far my Vivaldi works perfectly.
-
I did bug report but it may just be that my issue is that thanks to the Vivaldi way of doing the UI, my issue (which is now so annoying I've given up on Vivaldi) may not be fixable... Firefox has other issues, but its UI is smooth as butter and does what you expect.
-
@KimmoJ ouch sorry to hear about that. I found your bug report and it's from last May and we couldn't reproduce it internally. We have updated Vivaldi twice in the meantime. Can you still reproduce it on Vivaldi 2.7?

@catweazle: That's the end game for us

Well, there is a bug, Vivaldi does not reproduce the images on Chip.de, but it was already reported in the German forum. But the same goes for Opera and my Mobilbrowser Brave. They can only be viewed with Chrome and Firefox. This is why I think it is a problem related to this page.

Sorry, I don't speak German so can't post in that thread; but I noticed that :-
a) Changing the width of the Vivaldi screen causes the images to appear
b) Changing page zoom also causes the images to appearNot sure if this helps or not.

So glad that "uninstall & re-install" weren't suggested, but surprised that testing in a new (clean) user profile wasn't mentioned. Disabling extensions can help, but a clean profile is the best route for bug testing.

or feature
In the Web Inspector then Audits then Network conditions you can spoof the ua string (even with custom ones like dog etc)
-
@x-15a2 I did think it worth mentioning that "disabling" some extensions doesn't actually stop them from affecting browser function.
-
This post is deleted! -
@ayespy: properly designed extensions API would isolate all traces of extension, but since you are using chromium I'm not convinced it works that way
-
Maybe a bit unrelated question: Is there a way to run automated tests in Vivaldi using the Chromedriver (+ Selenium PyTest FW), just like in Google Chrome?
-
@R3gi if you run Vivaldi from the command line like so :
vivaldi.exe --app
maybe the tests will work as if it was on chrome. But you can't use it with the custom Vivaldi ui as far as I know.
-
That screenshot makes me wonder: why is Vivaldi almost the only browser that doesn't show further information on that screen? It would be easy to quantify each of those things (MBs, counts, etc).
Yes, the Chromium one that probably almost no one knows about or runs in Vivaldi shows it, but I'm talking about the Vivaldi's own, the one that's called out on the menu. Sometimes that little bit of extra information might help in troubleshooting or at least making informed decisions.
-
You didn't mention some bugs probably will never be fixed. I've got at least few of them and some irritate every day.
-
Pet bugs are long gone, has been fixed already. Only thing that remains is by adding features and improvements to your browser, the list is on my blog here at Vivaldi.
-
@iPristy Surely you jest. There are notable, serious fixes made on an ongoing basis. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not paying very close attention.
-
@rseiler: Been there than that, i'm a Firefox user, waiting for Vivaldi to grow up.
