Vivaldi 2.7 RC 1 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1628.28

@jacekn: oh, on clear profile it's all good. but moving everything to new profile is painful
-
@jacekn I have encountered similar problem in the past. Clearing of browser cache helped me. (it's a very bad thing that corrupted cache can be source of lags, but I don't want to investigate this bug further).
-
@gwen-dragon: for me it's not a matter of dropping frames when hi-res hi-fps video is playing. any video at any size randomly freezes and unfreezes whole browser. but only when:
- video is playing in current tab
and - tab is NOT muted
the video usually keeps playing smoothly. only browser ui and interacting with page is lagging/freezing.
usually when I play the video browser freezes instantly and I can see audio icon drawn over page favicon. I can not see a smooth audio icon animation.
See video:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/upv4lo1wycji6sq/2019-08-19_15-38-09.mp4From 0:18 i am trying to scroll the page at least - no luck this time. usually browsers react on events and continues animations about once every 1-2 seconds. while I recorded this - it was stuck for a whole minute. As you can see - video keeps playing. After closing a tab - audio was still playing until Facebook icon loaded (1:04)
I have updated Intel and nVidia drivers, no luck.
I have Enabled the 'Override software rendering list', no luck.
I have cleared cache as @Vort suggested (but no cookies, extension data and stuff - I need them, I cleared all app data related to youtube.com though), no luck.
The issue is somehow related to tab muting, as muting the tab fixes that and the problem started with snaphot that had code related to tab muting modified. So this is the place to look I think.
It IS somehow related to my profile data, I know, but I didn't do anything but updated browser. So it should be fixable from Vivaldi Devs perspective.
Gonna report this now officially. I'd be thanful it this is fixed before releasing stable version.
- video is playing in current tab
-
@jacekn: it is done: VB-56303
-
Was any thought given to punting on 76 and instead incorporating and testing 77 over the next few weeks (still in 2.7) and releasing shortly after it's finalized in the early part of Sept? This would have been a good time to catch up, since, with a release of 2.7 this week, we'd be as close to 77 as we are 76.
-
@rseiler At this stage (the release candidate stage), no major changes will be made, just fixes for major bugs. The next snapshot cycle will use 77.
-
Finally a small care for developer tools. Still some bugs exist
-
please make sure VB-54300 gets fixed...
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/38066/extensions-hotkeys-don-t-work-anymore -
@rseiler RC is feature complete.
-
Disappointed that you still haven't fixed the Developer Tools bugs
-
ctrl+f repeating searches with f3 still hangs browser
-
@jacekn working fine here, just tested it with different sites looking for terms that appear 200-700 times and gone through extensive F3 (& holding down the key), is there any particular site that causes the problem to you or maybe your extensions are somehow interfering?
-
Respectfully, should Flash be working at this point?
It disappeared from the list of known issues a few snapshots back, but I still can't run Flash on this site:
https://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.php?product=N0R&rid=mpx&loop=yes
I have the plugin enabled - and right-click to run it, but still doesn't work.
Thank you Team V !!

-
@JimTDI Flash works for me on that site if I enable the Flash Plugin. I don't need to right-click for it to run.
Do you have the latest flash installed?
Flash 32.0.0.238Does it work on other flash sites?
-
@Pathduck Thanks for your reply!
So I did a V > Help> About and it showed that version. I uninstalled Adobe Flash thinking it might be corrupt - rebooted - now V > Help > About > Flash shows: 999.999.999.999 /usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so and now my weather radar works again. I should mention I'm on the Linux version of Vivaldi on Linux Mint 19.2, meant to mention before but not enough coffee yet today
I guess I'll leave it with the pepperflashplugin unless there's a good reason not to. I don't understand the 999 looking IP address in front of the information for the plugin though.
Thanks again and have a great day!

I search for "ubuntu 19.04" (without quotes) and Vivaldi thinks it's a URL...
http://ubuntu/ 19.04
-
@brunnopleffken I can not confirm. Have a look at:
Alt+P >> Search -

Confirmed, Google as predefined search, search settings with Search in Address Field enabled, only way to search for it is prepending the nick

You use Post method, don't you?
Edited: reply moved away from the user's quote area.
-
@lamarca no, google doesn't need POST, it's unset by default in Vivaldi predefined search.
