Vivaldi’s forum has been updated to NodeBB 1.12.2
-
As always, today's update fixes a number of bugs (thanks for reporting!).
We've also added a few new features for you to check out:
- Related topics are shown at the bottom of every topic.
- Search suggestions will show as you start typing in the search field.
- New sound libraries for notifications.
Other fixes and improvements:
- RSS feeds.
- When uploading a file larger than the authorised size, an error message is shown.
- 'Alternative login' on pages that require the user to be logged in to view the content has been replaced with a green Login button.
- When reading a topic on mobile or a small window, contrast for progress bar has been improved.
Known issue:
- Watched and ignored categories/topics reset to watching all categories/topics.
A lot of bugs were fixed in this update, but if you spot any that slipped through let us know below.
In most cases, it probably makes sense to report them to NodeBB directly in their github repository.
Thanks to everyone who made this update possible and to those who are helping us in maintaining and using the forum everyday.

It doesn't work. I see list of sounds but can't play any of it.

I can play all of them, though I didn't select one, so I can't say it really works as sound notification.

The related topics seem to be pretty much superfluous. I looked through a dozen different topics and few if any bore any resemblance / relevance to the topic at hand.

I wouldn't call this an issue at all. Previously we had to ignore all categories and subcategories for local forums we didn't want to follow specifically. Now it's as easy as:
- Go to local forum category and click "Ignore", which will ignore all local forums and all subcategories automatically.
- Visit a local forum of your choice and hit "Watching" to whitelist it with all available subcategories.
It finally works as expected!
-
Under the topics, I see now the entire date :
I preferred the previous way of showing how old a post was (4 months ago for example).
It is still the case for the posts of yesterday (a day ago instead of the day and hour) :
Was this made intentionally?
FYI, I refer to the list of posts under the Unread section of the forum (as shown here under) :
-
@Ornorm How do you get the sane date display? DDMYYYY instead of MDDYYYY and AM PM nonsense. Are you using this in another language than English?
-
@luetage try english (UK)
-
@iAN-CooG Hmm, doesn't make a difference for me.
-
@luetage ok, it was worth a try
-
@kurai sorry for the trouble. Please empty your cache and remove all vivaldi.net cookies and try again. Does it help? If not, please let us know which Vivaldi and Operating System version you're using.
-
@Ornorm For me under forum.vivaldi.net/unread I only see x hours ago or x day ago and no date.
Do you mean all across the forum or for that page in particular?
It seems that indeed that now minutes, hours and days are showing at longer than that the day is shown. I'm not sure we can easily revert that change since we inherited as is from nodeBB and changing it could imply to much work to maintain each we update. We'll look into it though.
-
@iAN-CooG Seems like it even worked in the end. After logging in again the format changed, don't know why it didn't switch after saving settings and reloading though. So thanks.
-
@luetage ahh so you have to log out/log in again to see the date format change, not just restart Vivaldi? Good to know.
-
@luetage I have English (US).
-
@Ornorm And French for the Snapshot but the result is the same.
-
@gaelle Thank you for your answer Gaelle. I see it is the case on all pages of the forum. The X time ago is used for minutes, hours and days as you mentioned. When it comes to months or years, the date is then shown entirely.
Sad that it can't be changed easily. It just that it's weird to have two types of time styles displayed. It's less logic but, of course, we can live with it if it represents too much work. -
The list of related topics is useless clutter. Please turn it off.

Thanks. It works now. Thanks for your help!

@hlehyaric Just a basic question : Where do you see that list of sounds? I searched but... no success. Thanks in advance.
Edit : FOUND! For other users who might need to know where it is... search harder :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:
No, seriously, it is under your profile settings under Notifications and Sound (I had them on "No sound" so I couldn't test the new ones...).
