@pesala: Thanks for the pointer, voted up. I'm all for having the option to do it one way or the other.
-
@thedragonreborn: You can try to build a profile on the browser directly, to see where it happens.
In vivaldi://inspect/#apps, open the devtools on the UI, go to performance, and just before it happens, start recording.It may not happen in the UI thread, so maybe it won't be visible there, but it might.
In any case, if you successfully build a profile, don't hesitate to send it with a bug report ! -
@TheDragonReborn What we really need is a reliable way to reproduce the freeze. If Vivaldi is getting stuck in a loop while performing a DOM traversal, we need to figure out why.
-
@xyzzy FYI, I just replicated the "Find in Page" freeze with a 2.7 build and have filed a bug report for this issue.

Is the left-click highlight issue fixed yet? It happens on text or a link, when clicking it with the left mouse button sometimes (a lot) will highlight the character the cursor is on. It's not a "drag" issue. I've seen others make light of this issue in Vivaldi. Before Pesala tells me that I'm wrong because he hasn't experienced it: no, the mouse is completely still and not moving.
-
@Vividal Did you submit a bug? I can not confirm your issue.
-
Hello, happy summer. In this version the search engine within the page itself does not work well. Sometimes yes and others seem to be blocked. It is random.
(Oh, other users have already warned ..., well, worth my message as a reminder and what happens in general). -
@jacekn I'm glad to see it's not just me. This Snapchat + the previous have been super buggy for me. Random websites load while trying to search. Hoping for a fix in the next release.
-
@luetage Mac here, too!

I thought that it is my mouse dying.

@Vividal I cannot reproduce it either, unless I click and drag. It is easily done to drag by one pixel while clicking.
As lamarca said, have you submitted a bug report yet? If you give the bug number, Gwen can tell you its current status.
We have to ask to find out what you're doing different to us, otherwise the bug cannot be reproduced, and if it cannot be reproduced, it cannot be fixed, and any bug reports are likely to be closed.
BTW: One can now lock the speed dial in Settings, Startpage, by disabling "Allow Drag and Drop Reordering."
-
@lamarca: It's already been submitted, I believe.
-
@pesala: Haha, yeah I know. I'm happy about the BTW.

And this is what software usually handles correctly.
Try to drag window for one pixel, for example -

Wow! That is really a bug.
You can try to hold mouse button for several seconds after it is pressed.
Can be tested with example.com. Point mouse cursor inside "o" character of "More information..." link, press button and hold it for several seconds.
