Separate icon/extension/button for quick access to dev tools & private window
-
Hello...
Does anyone know of a way to create a toolbar button for Dev Tools that drops down with all the functionality... similar to what Firefox have with the spanner button.
Don't mind if its an extension or some other way of doing it... nice to be able to access individual functionality quickly.
Same for a private window? Button in the tool bar that launched a new private window... suppose profile is similar?
Thanks
Jon

@jtid It's possible to make a button that spawns a private window and somebody already did: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/27133/incognito-button
It's possible the mod has to be updated for the newer versions of Vivaldi though. As for Firefox's developer suiteβ¦ that's a hard one. All we got is the devtools really, Chromium browsers sadly lack the luxurious tools of the former. Just use the keyboard shortcut to spawn them or do it with right click β a menu with just one item isn't really worth creating. -
@luetage it looks like the majority of the options in Firefoxs menu are just shortcuts the the regular dev tools.
I don't think chrome has a way to open the dev tools to a specific page.

@luetage Thanks...I'll investigate that sometime and see what I can come up with.

@LonM Yup... pretty much shortcuts.
Did some more digging and you can open the Console with CTRL+SHIFT+J and the Elements panel with CTRL+SHIFT+C... but this is being used by Vivaldi to Copy Text To A Note.
Thankfully I've found you can set the Elements Panel shortcut in Vivaldi setting so I'm now using CTRL+SHIFT+F12.
This will speed things up
Thanks for the suggestions.

You can also change the shortcut fit copy to note, and many others as well, in the settings. I have heavily modified the keyboard shortcuts, but my keyboard is very different from what the vast majority of people use - I can configure it to do a lot of powerful stuff that's really not possible with normal keyboards. A lot of the typical keyboard shortcuts are just a single button or maybe 2 instead of 4 or 5+. It's definitely worth configuring Vivaldi's keyboard shortcuts to suit your needs. Create yourself a cheat sheet when you do, mine is in a spreadsheet.
