ooh, nice new feature. 10 People have requested this kind of thing
Its one of the features I missed from firefox.
It's great to see, without needing an extension, just how many 3rd party sites get contacted on a seemingly simple site.
-
Another one
Moreover, it seems like the experiments page is slightly broken.
One must restart Vivaldi for the experiment to take effect; this was not the case in previous versions.Edit
I'm experiencing this weird bug with the address bar every time I hit enter in the url bar. It's hard to explain, but hitting enter seems to take the last written url even if it doesn't match what appears on screen; here is a video:
-
@AltCode This PWA one in particular is engine based, so requires a restarts. Others which are purely UI experiments maybe don't need a full restart.
-
@LonM This didn't just occur with this new experiment. I tried disabling the experiment from two weeks ago, but after I went back to the experiments page it was ticked back on as though I had never disabled it.
-
@AltCode Ah, yes. Sometimes you need to edit the "features.json" file in your install directory manually.
-
@LonM No idea where that file is located (I'm also on macOS btw), but anyways I was wrong. The experiment was in fact disabled, but it was not displayed properly in
vivaldi://experiments
. I did not need restart or change a file. It appears to just be a visual bug with the page. Funny enough, if I open a new window, the change is indeed displayed correctly, but only in that window. -
@thot: Confirmed. Have you filed a bug report already?
-
I had some trouble with auto-update on MacOS 10.13 in the last two snapshots:
- The update was downloaded and Vivaldi shut down to install the update. But nothing more happened. I hat to download and install the Snapshots manually.
- Todays update notification appeared blurred as it did not use the full resolution and hence was upscaled for the retina display.

[Speed Dial] Bookmark update after thumbnail change VB-55022
This seems to work now, reloaded a thumbnail, it refreshed immediately.
-
Good. With this snapshot, on this Windows 7 32 bit PC, I can finally change site settings (flash block/allow, notifications etc) and then press "Reload" on the yellow infobar without crashing, the page gets reloaded correctly. My report was
(VB-55031) Crash after changing any site settingsAlso, because the crash was in the infobar itself, I can try importing a broken CRX without manifest, get it refused (as it should) and pushing the "OK" in the yellow infobar Vivaldi doesn't crash anymore. My report was
(VB-52459) Invalid crx extension with no manifest.json cause Vivaldi to crash after warning -
Speed Dial thumbnails are refreshing now, yay!
Aside from that, the whole UI feels a little bigger - like it's at 105% zoom (I'm normally at 100) even though it's set to 100. Is this dictated by the Chromium version bump?
-
url entering issue is still here
-
@stevekong: Key: VB-55145
-
@jacekn: i mean i put "gimbal" and i land on github.com because i have it in my bookmarks, and vivaldi takes few first letters, matches it to bookmark url and open that bookmark url instad of searching
-
Arrow keys in search field still broken.

only when numlock/capslock are on, let's hope this gets fixed soon but there is a workaround.
-
@Gwen-Dragon yes of course, I forgot to mention it, it was actually the culprit for me when I found out what it was blocking keyboard on search field. Normally people keep at least Num lock on.
-
@thot: No problem here on Windows 10. ️
-
@altcode: This problem is not happening on all my PC's that are on Windows 10.
-
@rhk so probably got fixed on windows (at least for me now works) but got worse on Mac
