Vivaldi starts only the process, without browser window.

On windows 7 64bits, I installed 64bit version Vivaldi 1.0.118.19 Technical Preview 2. After running the shortcut the process starts, but browser window never appears.

Even freshly after the reboot situation looks the same,
I can turn off antivirus and firewall, and it is the same.
I left it for 20 minutes (I have SSD disk) and it didn't start.
When app is starting it asks firewall for connection few times, but I can accept or decline it, it doesn't matter, only the process starts.I tried few times to end the process, and aftert starting the app it only starts the process, and there always is only one process, I can't launch few.
I installed it on 3 other computers and everything works OK.

I have a similar problem. When closing Vivaldi sometimes, the processes stay running in the background. If they are, then it's impossible to reopen Vivaldi without force closing or rebooting. Haven't updated to the newest snapshot yet.
Win 7 Ho Pre 64, 64bit Viv 1.0.118.2

It's not similiar, Your problem was solved in some update, and You have some kind of solution (end process on task manager and run Vivaldi) i my situation I can't do anything to start the browser, only the process starts.
I think it could be a problem with Comodo Firewall which is kind of hard to get past (thats why I use it) but even when I switch it off I can't run Vivaldi.
I had Vivaldi in very previous version installed few months ago but it was the same. -
I have a slightly similar problem.
Sometimes when I'm playing a video on Youtube, the browser window closes, but the processes still run in background, and I have to kill them before I can reopen a browser window.
-
button in the upper right, that's still bugged; in TP 1 it didn't work and in TP 2 it appears to only close the window, and not the process. Always close from the horizontal/V menu to get a clean shutdown - and subsequent clean startups -
I think it could be a problem with Comodo Firewall…...
There is a way to check if this is the cause. Can you end the process from the task manager? If you can then Comodo is unlikely to be the cause, if not then it would point to the firewall.

Is there a possibility to run Vivaldi with forcing to open the browser window ? some additional parameter, or to run second Vivaldi instance when one process is curently running ? -
On the problem machine did you, by any chance, install 'per user' (from a different user account) rather than for all users, so that the user you are trying to run from is unable to use Vivaldi? (I never install that way, so I'm not sure that could cause this problem, but just trying to troubleshoot.)
If not, a couple of other things you could try:
1. Install the latest snapshot over your current installation (already the third version since the one you've been trying), or…
2. Try a "Standalone" installation to a completely different folder. (You can do this without altering/uninstalling your existing installation.)
If you're not familiar with how to do this:
[ol]- click the Advanced button on the installer GUI
- select Install standalone as the Installation type
- type or select your preferred Destination folder (e.g., C:\VivaldiStandalone)
- click on the Accept and Upgrade button
[/ol]
This will create a new installation with a fresh Profile and Application sub-folder under your chosen Destination folder, and serve as a workaround for any possible corruption that may exist in your original installation.
Vivaldi should open from this new installation when the installer finishes. If it does, you can simply uninstall your other installation and continue using the new Standalone, or try uninstalling the old version and re-installing the new one. (Of course if you want to continue with the new Standalone installation, you may need to create new shortcuts to start it from.)

I have tried every installation type, but it doesn't help.

Including the latest snapshot? (…just checking :))
(...and there will probably be a newer build soon, maybe even later today)Nuts! I was hoping the standalone installation would work. (With Opera 12.x and earlier, any number of seemingly inexplicable quirks and problems that wouldn't yield to any reasonable troubleshooting steps were often most easily "solved" by a "fresh" installation to a different folder, bypassing any profile corruption and/or registry issues associated with the problem installation.)
The 64-bit version is explicitly stated to be "experimental." Not sure exactly what that means (as it all seems pretty experimental right now), but I guess you could try a 32-bit installation if you haven't already.
Other than that, since you got Vivaldi working on 3 other computers (and it is working on millions of others), it seems like the problem must have something to do with that particular machine's hardware/OS/software configuration... ...but I'm fresh out of ideas what it could be.

I didn't try the snapshot version only.
32bit version does not work also, starts proces but without browser window. -

I installed it as standalone, nothing helps, the same situation process starts, browser window never opens.

I have been assuming BitDefender and Comodo Firewall are unique to the problem machine (i.e., not installed on the other 3 machines where Vivaldi works). Is that correct?
If so, it appears you already tried running Vivaldi with Comodo Firewall disabled. Have you tried disabling both Comodo Firewall and BitDefender while installing Vivaldi? …or disabling both while running Vivaldi? Seems like a long shot, but maybe worth a try.
(Of course if you also have BitDefender and Comodo Firewall on the other machines, and the settings are the same, that would make it less likely BitDefender or Comodo Firewall is the problem.)
I have also been assuming when you say the process starts (but no browser window), you are observing the process in Task Manager or Process Explorer, and probably seeing only one vivalde.exe instance. Is that correct?
If so, it is interesting because on my unmodified standalone installation it appears Vivaldi uses 3 vivalde.exe instances at a minimum, plus one additional vivalde.exe instance for each open tab. On the vivaldi://memory-redirect page, the 3 non-tab instances are labeled Browser, GPU, and Extension. I don't know exactly what the GPU and Extension instances are for, but if you're seeing only one vivaldi.exe instance, I wonder if Vivaldi is somehow failing to start one or both of the other 2 vivalde.exe instances, so it never gets to the point of displaying the visible browser window.
In my current Vivaldi session the GPU and Extension vivalde.exe processes started 35 seconds after the Browser vivalde.exe process (per Process Explorer) and the first tab vivalde.exe process (re-opened from the previous session) opened 3 seconds later. I don't know what, if anything, to make of all that, but thought I'd just share what I've noticed as I've tried to puzzle out what might be going on with your problem machine. (…hoping maybe it might suggest to you something else to check out...)

I tried every option with new Vivaldi 1.0.141.2 and still it does not start up.
There is only one process.
Also I noticed, that if I won't run it as an administrator, even the first process does not start, earlier I didn't noticed that behavior.I am not shure how it was when I installed it on two other computers, but when I click to install it, a progress bar appears, and in a while it disappears, maybe its not installing properly even ?

Do you have an anti-virus or firewall program installed that might be impeding the installation?

It would seem a near certainty that security software is causing this. It has falsely identified Vivaldi as an intrusion and won't let go. Many kinds of firewalls and program-execution-blockers allow you to white-list certain files. You might try that. MOST security software cannot be turned off, even when you click the buttons or check the boxes to disable functions. You have to either block it from starting in startup, or uninstall it, and for some of them, good luck uninstalling, because they get so many tentacles into system, some cannot be removed without special software written by the same company that infected your computer with their "security" software. I had Comodo on my wife's computer for some years, and I had to uninstall it because it blocked her new tax software from running - no matter WHAT I did. It allowed the software to start, and then blocked it from filling any forms or printing anything. I whitelisted every file I could find, and it still wouldn't run. It worked fine on my computer, which ALSO had Comodo, so go figure. I uninstalled Comodo from her machine and suddenly the tax software worked perfectly.
Once one of these security programs gets the wrong Idea about one of your apps, sometimes the only solution is to shoot it in the head (the security software, not the app).

On windows 7 64bits, I installed 64bit version Vivaldi 1.0.118.19 Technical Preview 2.
After running the shortcut the process starts, but browser window never appears. The 64bit version (for now) is worth to try just for testing purposes, and to help the developers to iron out the bugs.
It's way more immature than the 32bit brother, and waaay slower.
So try the 32bit version to see if your problem magically disappears.

You know, you mention the bit-depth. Comodo blocked that tax software on my wife's 64-bit machine, but not my 32-bit one. God only knows how, but bit-depth could be related.
