Done, selected "Blog or forum".

that was a quick survey
-
That was almost difficult.

A close friend

I found it in a discussion on the old (new?) opera site around the time when the first TP was released.
-
@LonM Me too
-
@LonM I think we found him at the same time.
-
search engine: "(better) alternatives to google chrome"
-
@Hadden89 That's an honest answer.
-
I found it by searching "chrome like browser" and I was lucky to stumble upon the first technical preview. I didn't change immediately, but after that Vivaldi was certainly under my radar.
-
To be correct, first I heard about Vivaldi from my brother (who has never used it). Some time later I was searching for FF alternatives (because I stopped sharing computer with others) and found (and started using) Vivaldi.
-
@potmeklecbohdan Year. Can you remember?
-
@lamarca I don't know when my brother told me about Vivaldi, but I started using it in June 2018.
(Did I understand you correctly?)
-
@potmeklecbohdan Yes, you did. What about version number?
-
@LonM Same here
-
I was a secret tester before it was public thanks to the IRC room, which is why I suspect my vote may stand out when they look at the results, unless others put "Vivaldi IRC" as the "other"

Hear from Vivaldi or hear from the Vivaldi Browser?
First by someone registering a Trademark for an obscure product called Vivaldi which was registered for all kinds of internet connections, browsing purposes and electronic communication (which rang a loud bell that there might be someone preparing a browser), then by a former employee who asked If I want to be a pre-alpha tester of the still not public forum and the browser - or it might have been in reverse order, a bit over 6 years is a long time ago
-
Heard of it the day it came out publicly, from a user on the Opera boards.
-
When I heard rumours that Opera was to ditch Presto for Webkit. I started looking round to see what other browsers were available, and if anyone was trying to create an Opera clone, especially a FOSS one. Shortly after the switch to Webkit, I later heard about Vivaldi from a news article, but I don't think there was even a public release to download at that time. Despite being nonfree software, I've been using it pretty-much ever since its first public release. I'd been vaguely aware that Vivaldi as a community had arisen when the old "My Opera" shut down rather abruptly, so I had high expectations and haven't been disappointed yet.
