Vivaldi 2.6 RC 2 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1566.35

@npro: Okay, so the issue is related to a different crash that we have a fix for internally, look for VB-54230 in the future, we hope to have another RC with the fix asap. So would be great if you could try again once that is out
-
If you have steps to reproduce, please add those too, in case its a new crasher thanks
-
Thx @Aronand such a fast response and already checked at this hour, you rock man
-
@Aronand Great to hear, I'll send a rar with my latest dmp just in case.
VB-54538, rar attached to the reply.
Now have a good night. -
@ian-coog: Yeah, gone through a few of them, and all of those had the same failure ID hash as VB-54230 and npro's issue, where its causing a dump without crash. One of the bugs triggering this, is where 5 - 10 dmp files are created whenever a specific tab is closed. There are a couple different ways to trigger the underlying issue, but from my testing on the fix they don't occur anymore internally.
-
I noticed that clicks and hovers on the tabbar aren't being recoginzed anymore with a simple event listener. Any reasons for that? To give an immediate example: I have a CSS mod running which reacts when the .window-buttongroup is being hovered, but it only triggers when an actual button is being hovered, but the enclosing div is being ignored. Don't know exactly when that happened, but it bothers me.

Tab Bar looks normal.
Ftr: [[ use native window ]] is Off -
Same thing with this update. Speed-dial thumbs gone. Changing tactics - back to the bookmarks bar, I'm done using speed-dial!
-
– Have opened a main window with some tabs…
– open a new private window (ctrl+shift+n)
– change your mind and after a few seconds close the private window by ctrl+F4private window close… and your main window close as well with no reason…

@nutcracker Interesting. My thumbnails (custom ones I've made) have never disappeared in an update, including this one.
-
@nutcracker Are you referring to custom thumbnails, or those generated by Vivaldi?
I store my custom thumbnails in the Vivaldi folder, which never changes. If you store them in the Application folder, the folder is deleted with each update and replaced with a new folder.
-
@aronand: Yeah... "Bread"...

Good point. I store mine in a completely separate folder (my Dropbox, on a separate drive).

For the last several snapshots, I've been unable to delete entries from the search box drop-down. The X is there, but clicking it does nothing. Neither does <del>, but not sure if that was ever a feature?
-
@wpcoe: can not confirm.
Though, I have tons of problems with the address bar for the last several snapshots, too. (bad favicons, no autocomplete in some cases, not a proper hints…)

@wpcoe I can confirm that one cannot delete entries in the Search Field dropdown. I think it is a known bug in recent Snapshots.

@aronand: Hi there, any news on the panel bar limit?
-
@wpcoe Did you miss the earlier post
@iAN-CooG said in Vivaldi 2.6 RC 2 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1566.35:Not being able to delete Items from the search fields for example in my view is a major problem, same as the numlock/capslock bugging keyboard usability in both address and search fields dropdowns.
-
@joao-rossa The Feature Request is tagged as IN PROGRESS.
Shortcuts can be assigned to Open Previous/Next Panel. That will allow access to panels below the window vertical height limit, but I realise that that is not a satisfactory solution if someone wants to have dozens of panels.

@pesala: I'm referring to both custom thumbnails AND the captions generating by Vivaldi. The whole thing started with version 1566.6 and continues ever since. I, too, have stored my custom thumbnails in a different folder (inside Vivaldi), so it is not a matter of losing something. Re-assigning the thumbnails and re-loading the captions takes almost two hours of crappy work with all the tiles/multilevel sub-tiles/urls I have stored. I have almost 50 tile folders & sub-folders with at least 300 bookmarks in speed-dial. It's frustrating to do the same thing one bookmark by one all over. It, also, seems that the disappearing act is happening even without updating and with no apparent reason. I close the browser and when re-opening...blank. From what I read here, at least two other users had the same problem.
