How to Remove/Edit Background Images?
-
My 16 months old feature request Add, Delete, and Rename Start Page Background Images looks like it will never happen.
I wonder if there is any way to remove or change some of these with a modification?
The images are stored in the application resources folder so they currently get replaced on each update. One can physically delete the images, or replace them with one's own, but deleting leaves an empty placeholder in Settings, Start Page, and changes to the images would be lost on every update.

not sure if that's exactly what you want but guess something like
.startpage { background-image: url(../resources/bg_alt_4.jpg) !important; }
EDIT: ok, nevermind, you're referring to settings in that case i guess you could hide them with something like
.selectbox[title="Human"], .selectbox[title="Hot Pink"]{ visibility:collapse; width: 0; margin: 0; }

@MaxKarlErnst That works perfectly. I added it to my custom.css and restarted. With vivaldi://experiments "Allow for using CSS Modification" enabled, it updates the dialogue.
Is there a way to concatenate several image titles in one statement, rather than having one for each?
.selectbox[title="Pink Cloud"] { visibility: collapse; width: 0; margin: 0; } .selectbox[title="Jellyfish"] { visibility: collapse; width: 0; margin: 0; }

@Pesala yeah, i edited the post as i guessed you'd need it but too late just add commas
-
[title=Vivaldi], [title=Human], [title="Hot Pink"], [title=Subtle], [title=Dark], [title=Blueprint], [title=Beach], [title=Light], [title=Sunset], [title="Starry Night"], [title="Pink Cloud"], [title=Jellyfish], [title="Purple Lake"], [title=Wave], [title="Desktop Wallpaper"] { display:none; }
-
@MaxKarlErnst That is a lot neater. I got rid of the Desktop Wallpaper image too as I would never use that.
As with all coding, missing a comma breaks it completely. This code worked for me:
.selectbox[title="Human"], .selectbox[title="Hot Pink"], .selectbox[title="Subtle"], .selectbox[title="Dark"], .selectbox[title="Blueprint"], .selectbox[title="Beach"], .selectbox[title="Light"], .selectbox[title="Starry Night"], .selectbox[title="Pink Cloud"], .selectbox[title="Jellyfish"], .selectbox[title="Purple Lake"], .selectbox[title="Wave"], .selectbox[title="Desktop Wallpaper"]{ visibility: collapse; width: 0; margin: 0; }
-
The same code can be used to hide the selection boxes for Background Colours too. I added some code to hide the Background Colour named "Pro", which I would never use.
/*Hide Start Page Background Colours and Images*/ .selectbox[title="Pro"], .selectbox[title="Human"], .selectbox[title="Hot Pink"], .selectbox[title="Subtle"], .selectbox[title="Dark"], .selectbox[title="Blueprint"], .selectbox[title="Beach"], .selectbox[title="Light"], .selectbox[title="Starry Night"], .selectbox[title="Pink Cloud"], .selectbox[title="Jellyfish"], .selectbox[title="Purple Lake"], .selectbox[title="Wave"], .selectbox[title="Desktop Wallpaper"]{ visibility: collapse; width: 0; margin: 0; }
The End Result

@besalynus It is less of an issue now that the images are divided into categories. One can just select the Custom background image.
