Pinned tab not being remembered between sessions
-
As the title says, I pin a tab, close V, and it's no longer there when I relaunch later on. Only the default tab is there. This just started happening yesterday. Not sure if updating to the latest snapshot was the cause or not.

@JoelYoung Hi,
If you open settings can you double check startup is set to "Last Session".
If it is, can you check in task manager to see if there are any "ghost windows" that might be eating up the pinned tab when you close?
-
@LonM That did the trick. Strange that it unset itself. Thanks for the help.

@LonM Hey, just letting you know that I have startup set to "Start Page", and pinned tabs are always remembered between sessions, so this sounds like a bug to me.
Disclaimer, I am currently using macOS, so the behaviour might be slightly different for Vivaldi in Windows, but in my experience no other browser has ever needed to be set to restore the last session to remember pinned tabs. That was at least the case for chrome (both in Windows and macOS) and other browsers like edge and firefox.

@AltCode In Windows version, pinned tabs are not remembered unless one enables the Startup with Last Session option.
-
@Pesala Why would pinned tabs not be remembered unless "Startup with last session" is enabled? Is this by design? It makes no sense. What is the point of pinning tabs, if so? Perhaps it should at least be an option added to the Startup session options e.g. "startup with last session's pinned tabs" or similar? Thanks

@emeyedeejay FYI, a "Startup with Pinned Tabs" option has been requested and there is an open bug for this feature request.

Edit: I just re-tested this on macOS and Vivaldi currently does remember my pinned tabs when I have the
Startup with Start Page
option set; so, for me, it behaves like Chrome... although I also recall this working and not working in the past. -
@xyzzy That's why the feature request has been marked as "Done", because it works now. Since it doesn't work on Windows at the moment, it's just a bug. And yeah, restoring pinned tabs was removed around version 1.3 if I recall correctly, it's back for a few months now.
