4mm is bugging the snot out of me… sorry for the small gripe.

First of all I'd like to congratulate Vivaldi for entering the browser business. It's nice to have a new browser in the market. Second I didn't know chrome extensions would work. I'll look into that; however, I am waiting on an import for my chrome bookmarks and a real-time sync between computers for browser history and bookmarks. This is where chrome is going to be beat. This feature I use A LOT! Third: my stupid little gripe. The two laptops I use are 13" and 14" respectively. On monitors these sizes real-estate is important and while using Vivaldi I keep looking at the the 4mm of space wasted both on the left and at the top and wonder why it's there. Maybe you guys aren't going for such a minimalist approach but it bugs me enough to make a picture and upload it. lol Plus ... how do you get rid of the black thing on the left? Can you? The "black thing" is a ribbon like some folks put between the pages of a book to mark their place… that is, it's a bookmark symbol, just like the ghost-like one in the address bar. This 'black' one opens the bookmarks panel... so for many users, it's an essential access point of the side-panel's menu. At present, it's fixed in place, along with the other panel buttons.
As to which control symbology Vivaldi eventually adds or makes optional, only time and the passage of developmental progress will tell...

That black thing on the left can be closed by setting "panel position" in Tools/Settings to "off." It can also be closed by clicking the tiny panel icon at the bottom left of the browser. It can also be turned off by clicking "toggle panel" in the "view" menu. Let's see… I think that's all the ways it can be turned off...

You can even disable tab bar completely. If that's not minimalist, what is?
There are some more minimalist goodies in the pipeline… stay tuned! :woohoo:how do you get rid of the black thing on the left?
Just as an extension to above answers: You can toggle it by pressing F4.

Uhmm… turning off all the browser features by using the upper-right "x" button?

Hitting F4 is the way I do it.
So that's FOUR ways to get it done. A shame this browser has so few options. I basically never use the F keys for anything (because the way I learned touch-typing, I can't hit them without looking. Our typewriters did not have F keys), so the fact that an F key does something will always be pretty much the last thing I ever discover.
