Tech Preview 2.-0
-
When I go to vivaldi.com I am invited to dowload Tech Preview 2.0, which I attempt to do. I go through the entire process including accepting the term of the installion agreement, but I'm not able to see any change. When I click on About, it shows 1.0.118.19 (Developer Build). Shouldn't it say 2,0?

No. The version number of the second Technical Preview is 1.0.118.19.

I suspect the 1.0 term in the version number will stay that way at least until there's a stable, formal release. Everything until now (including the TP versions) are different iterations of an initial experimental version, whether one calls them alpha or beta or 'experimental' or 'developmental' versions. So as the Tech Preview versions increase (assuming they do), I wouldn't look for a bump in the major version number until something "releases".

You're not downloading "Tech Preview 2.0", check again. You're downloading "Tech Preview 2" - as in "the second tech preview". The build version number has no relation to this.

To be fair, I noticed the same thing though - it definitely said something like "technical preview 1.0" in the installer…

It should really be either TP 2 (no decimal) or 1.0.118.19 … More properly Vivaldi 1,0 TP 2. But "should" isn't always what happens, I suppose.
