Keep alive dynamic history clock
-
I'm aware it is just an easter egg for 01/4/19
So why don't hide this behind an (unsupported) mode in settings ?//EDIT: In the meantime, we can still can keep alive with a cool mod
-
good idea. You can turn it on by typing a
โฐ
emoji in settings, like the๐ถ
.(quick edit: I would rather have settings always be publicly visible, but if a secret emoji is the way, so be it)
-
@Hadden89 Lol, I just finished a mod for this, should work come tomorrow.
-
It's a good idea, but I'd rather not have it in the panels, it would be much better to have it in the status bar, visible at all times. Preferably as a digital clock, since the icon is too small to tell time reliably in an analogue clock.
I remember Opera had this, it was very useful, I don't have any other clock visible on my screen, as I hide the task bar automatically.
-
@Pathduck A digital clock in status bar will be nice too for other scenarios, like kiosk mode (which couldn't have a taskbar which show the time).
-
A low resolution icon in a toolbar that is often hidden is not worth implementing.
Please vote for the existing feature request.
Since we can now edit toolbars to some extent, this could easily be moved to the Navigation Bar by those who hide the Status Bar.
-
@LonM :
like the
๐ถ
.Thx for this. Never been told about the biscuit mode before. What does that bring in addition to Viv version in status bar?
-
@Leradis Just that for now.
-
-
Meanwhile I use this one, shows hour, date, calendar, shedule with voice and ToDo list. Works fine
-
@Pesala
But it is already implemented, as you can see.And stop redirecting people to completely different requests!

This post is deleted! -
@Gwen-Dragon
The feature itself is implemented. It is just hidden behind a conditional statement. -
@Nekomajin As you can see from the OP, it is only an Easter Egg. If it was already implemented, this thread would be tagged as "In Progress," or "Done."
The existing feature request is not completely different, it is a much more sensible request than a little joke for April Fools Day.
Users who want to check the time, or check how long they have been working on a task, need something they can see at a glance, without opening the Panels. If they were happy to open the panels, they could show the Windows Taskbar instead, which shows the day and date too, and links to a full calendar.
-
I am really hoping this feature stays. It's not useful, but I like it.
-
@Pesala Easter egg or not, it is still a feature, albeit a hidden one, and that does not mean that it is not already implemented. While the other request serves the purpose to add an actual, more legible clock, this one is just aesthetic. Furthermore, from what I gathered in the blog post and the people who have voted for this request, no one seems to want to use this to actually read the time, as that would be impractical.
In short the existing feature request serves the purpose of adding a new functionality, while this request serves the purpose of making an aesthetic feature accessible outside the 1st of April.
-
@AltCode Well said, that's how I see it too. To me a clock in the Vivaldi UI is completely useless, the operating system does that much better (or just my smartphone. This easter egg is a design choice and I like it. Keep those watch hands moving!!
-
@Pesala
So we have a working feature, you can see it with your own eyes, but you say it's not implemented. What it is then? Magic?The code behind the animated icon is already there. It's just enclosed in a conditional statement. It means it is implemented.
About being a different request or not, the OP specifically asked for this feature, not a clock in general. You being a moderator does not give you the right to decide which feature people should use. You have the right not to upvote it, if you don't want it.
-
@Gwen-Dragon One could say the same thing about many feature "implemented" by mods such as Zoom and Other Page Actions in Web Panels. I have "implemented" several features that I am still waiting for after many years.
It is tiresome to argue about semantics. Nekojim knew very well what I meant by saying that it is not implemented.
