Uploaded videos to Wordpress do not play on Vivaldi

@tony001 said in Uploaded videos do not play on Vivaldi:
When I upload a video to my wordpress site, the video cannot be played on the Chrome Browser or the Opera Browser or the Vivaldi Browser.
The three browsers are Chrome based. It works with Firefox. There must be a wordpress issue.
-
@lamarca Thank you. THAT is what I thought as well. Yet the videos play on Firefox and iE. But I can't seem to get a replay on wordpress yet.
-
@Gwen-Dragon The videos are all made with Sony Vegas and rendered as mp4. They DO play on Firefox and iE browsers but NOT on Google Chrome or Vivaldi or Opera browsers.
This is a picture of what shows on those browsers.
So as far as I can tell this problem is related ONLY to these specific browsers.
But then again it COULD be a windows 10 problem pertaining to these specific systems because I turned on my backup computer which has windows 7 on it and those videos DO show up and play on those browsers.I think it MIGHT be some type of setting that is not there.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yes I've tried 3 different mp4 videos and they all open when I import them into the vivaldi browser directly. It just will not show them when they come from the website they are uploaded to.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Here's the latest one but ALL uploaded videos are the same.
https://ignoredpoliticalreality.com/the-collusion-show/
They CAN be viewed with no problem in Firefox browser and iE browser. They just cannot be viewed in Vivaldi and Opera and Chrome.
But it appears that for some unknown reason this problem ONLY exists on MY PC. Which leads me to think that it must be related to some setting on MY machine where these particular browsers are concerned.
I turn on my backup PC which has windows 7 still installed on it and I can go to the site and the videos ALL play without a problem.

@tony001 windows 10N? Without the media player codecs? At least I can confirm I can see the videos on that page on win7.

@Gwen-Dragon I've got:
windows 10 pro
version 1803

@Gwen-Dragon But if it were 'broken' then the videos should not play at all on any browser. But they do play on some browsers but not on any of these chromium based browsers. Which again leads to me to think it is a setting of some kind, but not being a techie I have no idea what that setting could be that affects chromium based browsers.
-
@Gwen-Dragon I just use windows 10 anti virus and malwarebytes.
I haven't done it yet but I might try something a bit different. I will close out of vivaldi and open Firefox and then go to my website and upload a test video using this latest mp4 video and backdate it a few years so that it doesn't interfere with anything up there now.
Then I'll close out of Firefox and reopen the vivaldi browser and go to the link and see if the test video plays.
If it DOES play, then the problem exists with the vivaldi browser on MY PC and not with the vivaldi browser in general since you said you were able to see the video on your computer and you are using the vivaldi browser.
That's about all I can think of to try. -
@Gwen-Dragon No it doesn't work that way either. THAT was one of the very first things I checked.
-
@Gwen-Dragon No...not being tech savvy that is something I never would have thought of. I will try that though.
-
@tony001 You are welcome.
I can confirm it's a wordpress bug.
Just for the records: the limite size of the file is 8Mb. -
@Gwen-Dragon Okay I am back.
I renamed the profile folder as you suggested but what it did was create two folders. I then couldn’t get either one to open, so I deleted the newer one and I lost everything.
Since windows 10 no longer has a system restore function that actually works, even in safe mode with both the anti-virus and the firewall turned off, I lost everything including all passwords to sites etc. So it has taken me a very long time to find the sign in and password to this forum. But I have to reestablish everything else on this machine as well in the process.
I thank you for your assistance, but I’ll try that firefox idea I had earlier today when it comes to uploading videos and if that doesn’t work then it is something related to these chromium based browsers that just will not work on my machine.
But thank you again for your suggestions.

@tony001 Just a reminder: It's a Wordpress bug that affects Vivaldi.
I am sorry for the data loss. -
