Searching the words "screen saver" freezes the page
-
Edit (29/03/2019) : the issue seems to be resolved now both on the Stable and on the Snapshot. I just tried and couldn't reproduce the bug. The Vivaldi tried as well and didn't face anything to confirm what I described here.
Hello,
I wanted to make a general search (no filters applied) on the words screen saver on the forum and the page doesn't respond anymore. I tried several time and the problem occurs each time.
I tried with other words and I didn't get any issue. I don't know if someone else can try the same search and tell me if the same issue occurs.
Thanks in advance for your feedback. -
Lol, nice find, works out really well.
Search finishes up loading after 30 to 40 seconds though, but no idea why it takes so long. -
@luetage Oh yes... Now I went back to the page and I can now navigate on it (I should check how much time it took). I don't have the same behavior with other searches (the result comes immediately).
Anyway, thanks for having tried it (I thought I was mad... which is sometimes true by the way :face_with_stuck-out_tongue: ) -
@Ornorm You can take a look at console for the page after it has finished loading. It shows 14 mixed content warnings for images and all of these have a timeout function, that's why it takes so long probably.
-
@Ornorm Here my search argument: page tilling, capture page. No issues
I got high CPU usage using screen saver. -
@Ornorm Suggestion: As I could repro the issue wait for one more confirmation, and report it.
-
@lamarca Thanks. I will. I just tried again and it took more than 2 minutes to load (as said, which isn't the case with other terms).
@luetage Same message in the console :14 Mixed Content: The page at '<URL>' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure image '<URL>'. This content should also be served over HTTPS.
but doesn't seem to be the reason because I get the same message with searches that work immediately.
I will see if someone else confirms the finding and report it accordingly.
Thanks guys for your quick assistance on this.
-
@Ornorm That's okay.
For the records, same result on Stable & Testing (Linux - Bunsenlabs.) What about you? -
@lamarca Good point. Sorry I forgot to mention that.
It concerned Stable 2.3.1440.61 on Windows 10 x64.
I just tried on the last Snapshot. The result isn't 100% the same. It remains loading but, at least, the page doesn't freeze (I can scroll down and navigate through the page). -
@Ornorm Ouch. Same on my mobile.

I've tried that now. I received fifteen answers immediately,
So did I
...nothing more.
For me,
- the menu could not be used (Categories .... Search)
- the scroll bar did not work (although mouse middle wheel could be used)
- there was a spinning green icon (top right of page)
After a short time (maybe 1 or 2 minutes) the page redirected to Vivaldi Help
Tried again and the redirection was to a reloaded search page, not the results page -
@TbGbe Thanks for your feedback.
I was waiting for a last confirmation before sending a bug report. I just created one.
The reference is 1362903146. Waiting for the bug number to share it. -

Who is hallucinating? Against three others, it can only be me. Any suggestions for medication, please?
The same here (on latest SS and also on FF), except that the number was 16 (@TbGbe's post?).
Edit: on stable it immediately loads 17 (because of this one) posts and continues loading for some time.

Reference? I don't know what it means.
-
@lamarca Me neither. Just for reference for the ones who know... (it's the number I received automatically after submitting the bug)
-
@Gwen-Dragon Are you using the provided search arguments [[screen saver]]? Just in case.
-
@Gwen-Dragon is it not a "search argument"? It's a device, is that? High CPU usage only when type the argument.
-
@Gwen-Dragon It's correct, I prefer brackets instead of quotes that's used very often: screen saver
